Steamboat Rock State Park Ranger Jeremy Jalali and Grand Coulee Dam Rotary Club President Colleen Manley cut the ribbon Monday at an official dedication of the first handicapped-accessible fishing pier in North Central Washington. The seniors accept aluminum cans ONLY. Please do not put cardboard, plastic bottles or other aluminum in the collection sacks. In 2013, the Seniors collected 3800 pounds (almost 2 tons) of cans and took in approximately $1500 for the Senior Center. That is approximately 30 cans for everyone in the Grand Coulee Dam area. The program helps keep the doors open at the Seniors and keeps the cans out of the landfills. Hundreds of kids from 1 to 10 years of age cleaned the middle school athletic field of thousands of plastic eggs in mere minutes Saturday. Ludolph Field at Grand Coulee Dam Middle School sported about 2,500 colored plastic eggs containing candy or prizes planted there by the Lions Club. Cordoned off for four age groups, each starting at separate times, the field was cleared of eggs in four minutes.
