    Grand Coulee Police 5/19 - Police assisted a Coulee Dam officer in identifying a woman who had given two names. The woman’s driver license was suspended and there were several arrest warrants for her.     The town of Coulee Dam is spearheading an effort to create and establish a monument to honor 81 persons who died during the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. Friday, Karen Struve, president of the Northeast Washington Genealogical Society, and Susan Dechant, vice president and researcher for the society, visited the area to discuss the monument project with Coulee Dam Mayor Greg Wilder and myself.     Grand Coulee Police 5/12 - A local bank reported to police that an employee had been terminated for taking money and the official provided surveillance footage to police. - Police found four subjects in the area of the Tanner gates near North Dam Park after hours and all left the area. 5/13 - A man who found a card holder that belonged to an assault victim turned it in to police.     Certainly, California has rewritten the definition for “dry.” Yet, here in Washington (Oregon too) we are beginning to create our own heightened definition too. On the state level, Governor Inslee made more drought declarations on April 17. More than one half of the state is now listed in one of three categories, starting with abnormally dry here.     Gardening Diagnostic Clinics have begun at the WSU Okanogan County Extension Office. Diagnostic clinics are a public service offered to the community by the WSU Okanogan County Master Gardener volunteers. Master Gardeners assist backyard and non-commercial gardeners with a variety of gardening issues, including insect and plant disease identification.     Grand Coulee Police 4/27 - Police interrupted some juveniles that were cutting some shrubbery at an abandoned house on Fortuyn Road. The youth were advised to stop doing this and complied. – A woman on Goodfellow Street in Electric City told police that she was the victim of identity theft. She said that she had a call on a credit card issue and couldn’t have made the charges because she was incarcerated at the time.     A Tri-Cities native has been hired as a new officer of Coulee Dam's police department. Levi Johnson started April 18, after going through the town's Civil Service Commission recruitment and testing. Here Johnson is shown with police Chief Pat Collins, left. Johnson is a graduate of Hanford High School, and he said that he has always wanted to be a police officer. He and his wife Heidi have two children, Kaiclyn Jayo and Jett.
