A Grand Coulee business couple has asked the city council to grant them a business license for a marijuana retail store near Coulee Medical Center. Jean Comstock and Jim Pachosa appeared before the council last Tuesday night and requested support in getting the business license in the city. Kids at Lake Roosevelt Schools will have more direct access to health care if a plan to that end pans out between Coulee Medical Center and Lake Roosevelt Schools. Equipment is surplus Several video cameras and accessories have been declared surplus by the city of Grand Coulee, along with some Dell computer equipment, minus the hard drives, which will be stored in the city’s safe. Fire and EMS activity reported Grand Coulee’s Volunteer Fire Department answered four calls in March, including one structure fire. Ronald McDonald, a Camas Street resident, took a spill Sunday when he tried to stop his motorcycle near the Galaxy Smoke Shack on SR 155 near the bridge in Coulee Dam. He said he was unfamiliar with the hydraulic brakes on his cycle. McDonald complained of an injured wrist and was taken by ambulance to Coulee Medical Center. Grand Coulee Police 4/27 - Police interrupted some juveniles that were cutting some shrubbery at an abandoned house on Fortuyn Road. The youth were advised to stop doing this and complied. – A woman on Goodfellow Street in Electric City told police that she was the victim of identity theft. Look for supt. Nespelem School District is looking for a new superintendent and signed an agreement with a search firm Monday night. The district will pay $6,900 to Northwest Leadership Associates to look for a new part-time superintendent, but consultant Lloyd Olson said the district needs that position filled at least three days a week, not one. Dortha A. Reid, 101, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee. Dortha was born April 3, 1914, to August and Watie Henkel in Wenatchee, Wash. She was the eighth of 12 children and was raised in Wenatchee. Dortha married Kenneth E. Reid on January 17, 1936, in Magna, Utah. She worked at Remington Arms in Salt Lake City during the war. A Spokane man was rescued Saturday through the efforts of a number of agencies after injuring his leg while climbing high on the rocks behind Osborne Bay. Nicholas Vange, 21, who had been camping in the area, along with another man, Nicholas Largent, also of Spokane, had been hiking high in the rocky ledges on the coulee hillside above Banks Lake when he ran into trouble. 1 Years ago Total Health Events, LLC, of Blaine, Wash, the same company that put on last fall’s triathlon, is hosting the “Over The Dam Run” 5K/10K and a half marathon on Sunday, May 8 on Colorama weekend. The original race began in 1977, organized annually by an avid group of runners from the Coulee, Spokane and eastern Washington, but numbers of participants in recent years has dwindled.
