Grand Coulee's public library was full of kids and adults last Wednesday night as staff held its annual lighting ceremony. Grand Coulee Police 12/5 - Police are looking for an Elmer City woman who allegedly struck her boyfriend of six years, causing a cut in his nose. The man said he didn’t want to get his girlfriend in trouble. When police arrived there was blood on the floor, on the walls and in the bathroom. 12/6 - Police checked on a report of a dog being mistreated on Dill Avenue. A raffle to benefit a new park in Electric City has raised $500, City Councilmember Lonna Bussert said Monday. Bussert has held two picnic celebrations and now the raffle of two bicycles to raise over $4,000 toward development of the new park behind the fire station in Electric City. Winners of the bicycles were Susan Haydock of Coulee Dam and Cody Bright of Wilbur. Bright donated his bicycle back and Bussert gave it to Trees of Sharing, to be given to some child in the area. Grand Coulee Police 11/27 - A man saw someone crouched near his girlfriend’s car at a Main Street apartment and yelled at him. His girlfriend came to the door and heard a “hissing” sound and saw the man letting the air out of her tire. She chased him for about a block. The 2017 Coulee Pioneer Museum calendar will feature pictures of the Third Powerhouse at Grand Coulee Dam, Birdie Hensley said this week. The calendar is dedicated to the men and women who worked on the project, the 50th anniversary date of which is Jan. 3, 2017, Hensley stated. Calendars are $10 and are available through Hensley, as well as membership in the museum. The calendar is full of historical dates of the overall Grand Coulee Dam project. Grand Coulee Police 11/19 - A Nespelem woman will likely receive a citation from the court for having expired tabs and no insurance. She was stopped when an officer noticed the tab expiration, and she was given a few days to supply the police department with proof of insurance. The Trees of Sharing collection sites are ready now to help people like you help kids this Christmas. Located at North Cascades Bank, Safeway Pharmacy, Harvest Foods, and Coulee Dam Credit Union, the program allows donors to take an ornament tag off one of the trees and purchase a gift for the local child described on the tag, then return it. Scouts take a break at the Care and Share Food Bank Saturday after bringing in 1,200 pounds of food collected in their annual drive. Empty plastic bags were left on doorsteps all over the community a couple weeks ago with instructions for donations to be placed outside last Saturday. Grand Coulee Police 11/14 - A Nespelem woman reported she had just noticed that someone had entered her vehicle and taken several hundred dollars of items, including a tablet. - The owner of a storage business at East Grand Coulee Avenue reported that someone had cut the lock off one of the units. - A vehicle ran out of gas near the top of Grand Coulee Dam. The Trees of Sharing program is a special way for Grand Coulee Dam area residents to anonymously bless local children who might not otherwise receive a gift this Christmas.
