Zach divides his wide-eyed attention Saturday between a pretty Christmas tree and Santa, who was there for kids at a Christmas party arranged for them by the Moose Lodge. This past year the Coulee Pioneer Museum has been displaying “Wash Day in the Coulee” thanks to Coulee Recycling and Loepp’s Furniture for their loan of a vintage washing machine, to “Harvest in the Coulee”. Now the display has been changed to celebrate - “The 1950’s Christmas in the Coulee.” Stop by and take a peek through the window or call Birdie Hensley at 633-2773 or 631-0303 and she will come and open up the museum. It’s light the library time. A special program is planned for the Etheta Anderson Grand Coulee Library on Tuesday, Dec. 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. A special lighting of the library, a repeat of last year’s program, is planned. Grand Coulee Police 11/21 - A caller reported a theft of liquor from an Almira location and said the party was heading toward Grand Coulee, and gave a description of the vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle but the driver refused to talk with police, so the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was called and a deputy continued with the investigation. People fill the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center Nov. 19 for the Senior Thanksgiving Meal, which was served to about 175 people in the Senior Meal Program's two locations in Grand Coulee and Coulee City, including delivery to those who couldn't get to the site. The Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union donated to the program, covering the cost of 150 meals. And Dean Stucker donated five turkeys, as he has done for years. Grand Coulee 11/18 - Someone during the night broke into a shower coin box, took it and also tried to access a second coin box at Coulee Playland. Cameras showed those responsible arrived in a truck and spent about 45 minutes on premises. Damage was estimated at $500. Later, police were told by a man that he had been in the area and had seen two men enter the shower area. He gave police a good description of the vehicle. A number of gun and archery enthusiasts collected a pickup full of debris from the Washington Flats area recently. The five people taking part are all members of the Coulee Gun and Archery Club. Ruth Beaty, one of the members, said most of the material was gun and archery target material that people had left on the site. Grand Coulee Police 11/11 - A woman on Federal Avenue told police that her husband had been kicked out of the house and she needed to get an anti-harassment order to keep him from contacting her. She was advised that she would need to go through the courts. - Police received a report of a stolen vehicle, then located it at a residence on Burdin Boulevard with the man who took it asleep in the back seat. We received almost double the mean amount of rain for October, with 1.38 inches measured here at the home weather station. The measuring station at the dam showed 1.72 inches for October. The mean is 0.72 inches. I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the wetness either. We were on the higher end of mean temperature too. The mean here at the house was 54.9°F some 3.8°F higher than mean (51.1°F). We had a high temperature of 86.1°F (Oct. 6) and a low of 35.3°F (Oct. 27). No record-breaking measurements for the month. You still have until this Thursday to submit names for the Trees of Sharing program, which distributes Christmas gifts to children in need. Names will be accepted at Safeway, Harvest Foods and Coulee Medical Center, and are for preschool kids from the area or school children attending Grand Coulee Dam School District schools. Grand Coulee Police 10/26 - Police checked on a report that there was a suspicious man standing in the roadway by Coulee Playland pointing at vehicles as they passed.
