Grand Coulee Police 8/3 - USBR Plant Protection advised police that there was a dog kept in a van at the 230 kv switchyard. Police found a Bonneville Power Administration contractor who said he takes his dog swimming in the mornings, then runs him about 10 a.m. and takes the dog home at 11 a.m. The officer checked the van about 3:30 p.m. and the dog was not inside. Grand Coulee 7/24 - A woman with a Bridgeport address was banned from Coulee Hardware after the store said she was caught on a security camera taking a cutting tool without paying for it. When she returned to the store the next day, an officer advised her that she was going to be charged with theft and that if she returned to the store she would be arrested. 7/27 - Police were called to Burdin Boulevard where a woman had allegedly thrown a rock through her husband’s vehicle window during an argument. Grand Coulee Police 7/13 - Someone threw a rock through the window at Jack’s Spring Canyon Service but got away with only about $20 worth of items. The thief scattered Cheetos onto the parking lot. The window will cost about $100 to replace. It was reported that the store might have the thief on its security tape. - A person who walks regularly along Martin Road said he saw several batteries just out of view stashed along the road. A mother osprey hovers near her three chicks at their nest in Coulee Dam Monday. During the recent heat, the parent birds stood over the chicks to shade them atop the 100-foot pole erected when new high power line tower construction made moving the nest from an old tower necessary. Now, says photographer Nora Jenn, this year's chicks are not quite ready to take flight, but that will come soon, and people will be able to see the chicks learning to fish. - Nora Jenn photo...
The seniors accept aluminum cans ONLY. Please do not put cardboard, plastic bottles or other aluminum in the collection sacks. In 2013, the Seniors collected 3800 pounds (almost 2 tons) of cans and took in approximately $1500 for the Senior Center. That is approximately 30 cans for everyone in the Grand Coulee Dam area. The program helps keep the doors open at the seniors and keeps the cans out of the landfills. Please do not put other material in with the cans because we have to dispose of it and the and that raises the already high garbage... Full story
