Grand Coulee 12/28 - The manager of the Grant County Housing Authority apartments at Continental Heights reported that Christmas ornaments had been taken from the common area, and he had identified the person who took them on his surveillance camera. - A man on Stevens Avenue in Electric City advised police that someone had taken a set of mounted snow tires from his property. Les Schwab Tires in Grand Coulee has a new manager. Bryan Hansen, a 20-year veteran with the company, arrived last Saturday to take over his new duties. Hansen comes from Manteca, California, where he was assistant manager. The snowy winter here is quite a change from Manteca, which is in the middle of the inner California valley, where temperatures get hot in the summer, and the weather is mild in the winter. Grand Coulee Police 12/2 - Police are still sorting out problems with a Cadillac that was pulled over because of a license tab problem. The driver also didn’t have insurance on the vehicle. The license tabs on the vehicle, which were expired anyway, didn’t belong to the vehicle. 12/18 - USBR Plant Protection advised police that there was a stalled vehicle at milepost 28 on SR-155. Birdie Hensley has been re-elected president of the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center. Hensley was elected to her second term as head of the organization in balloting recently. Others elected to serve the senior organization in 2016 are Helen Reddick, vice president; Sue Miller, secretary; and Kay Wallace, treasurer. The Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center will hold a Community New Year’s Eve party at the center Dec. 31, from 7-10 p.m. Center officials stated that the event will be alcohol-free and feature music and dancing from the 1940s and 1950s. Advance tickets are available for $4; tickets at the door will be $5. It’s an opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate the coming of the new year. A Coulee Dam High School (CDHS) all-class reunion will be held the weekend of Aug. 5-7, 2016, in Coulee Dam. All classmates and teachers who attended CDHS from 1935 to 1974 are invited. The last class to graduate from CDHS was the class of 1971, but the transitional Lake Roosevelt classes from 1972 to 1974 who also attended when it was CDHS are also invited, as are those classmates who attended at some point but moved away prior to graduation. The Ridge Riders are gearing up for another run at "Rodeo of the Year" honors. The Delano organization has won the award three of the past four years and has another busy schedule for 2016, President George Kohout said this week. Grand Coulee Police 12/15 - Someone had tried to pry the gas cap off a van parked at the Electric City Fire Hall. Police stated the damage was about $50. 12/16 - A man who has a house on Mead Avenue reported that someone had entered his house and moved things around. He said the person responsible had moved things into the house. Grand Coulee Police 12/7 - A man who got angry after stumbling over a suitcase had reportedly stated he was going to drive his truck into the lake. Grand Coulee Police 12/1 - A man left his phone in the restroom at Safeway, but it was gone when he returned for it an hour later.
