The Ridge Riders are gearing up for another run at "Rodeo of the Year" honors.

The Delano organization has won the award three of the past four years and has another busy schedule for 2016, President George Kohout said this week. Any honors the club receives are due to the outstanding team the organization has put together, he said.

Kohout will continue in 2016 for his fifth year as president. Other officers will be Wayne Fowler, vice president; Bonnie Brakebill, treasurer; Danielle Florenzen, secretary; and Janet O'Neil, Janet Doughty and Ryan Poe, trustees.

Kohout stated that the Ridge Riders are going to try to put on a ranch rodeo during the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce's Harvest Festival next September.

The Ridge Riders' annual Banquet and Auction kicks off the season March 19 at the Vet's Center in Electric City.

The banquet is handled by Debbie Achord and Cindy Edwards, with Diane Kohout handling the tickets and Monty Fields as the chief cook.

Almost all the tickets have already been sold, Kohout stated.

Sev Carden will again spark the Fourth Annual Cleatis Lacy Memorial Bull Ride and the Wild Horse Race. Shane Marchand will be in charge of keeping the rodeo grounds looking good for the various events.

Marchand and his wife, Tasha, are in charge of the junior rodeo and Bubba Egbert runs the ranch rodeo events.

Edwards is again in charge of rodeo queen events, such as the luncheon and event schedule. The queen for this year's Colorama Rodeo is Caitlin O'Neil.

Achord designs the club's posters and works on the program, and Doughty has been handling the club's riding clinic for over 30 years.

"It's the finest bunch of people I have ever worked with, and what's rewarding is that each of them step up and do a great job. People like Wayne Fowler help out in so many places. That's why we are able to put together a rodeo and the other events and get the recognition we receive," Kohout stated.

The Ridge Riders are getting their event dates decided and will be ready to announce them soon.
