Lady Raider softball dropped all three of their games last week. At Oroville May 6, the Lady Raiders lost to the Hornets by a close score. On the mound, Tristen Adolph continued her streak of solid performances, striking out eight batters and giving up only four walks. Some 68 percent of Adolph’s 124 pitches were strikes. Adolph along with Savannah Marin had a good day at the plate, going three for four. Raider tennis players defeated the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats in both boys’ and girls’ play May 6 but lost to Tonasket two days later, then ended the regular season at home last night. Raider golfers competed in their last two events of the 2014 season May 6 at Oroville and last night at Banks Lake Golf Course. At Oroville, the Raiders competed against a large Hornet squad and a lone Tonasket Tiger. On the 18-hole course the Hornets came away the victors on the boys’ side. For the girls it was a close contest, but they were scored as individuals as only five girls competed in the match. Raider Track finished the regular season with athletes placing in two meets. The LR boys finished sixth overall in the Bridgeport Invite May 6, with 42 team points. The girls’ squad took ninth with 41 team points. The Raiders travelled to Royal City May 9 to compete in the Ron Vanderholm Invite, where the girls finished 13th with 19.5 points, and the boys took 19th with 9.5 points. “They are performing well and we are excited to see what they can accomplish at the Sub-District Championships,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said. The Lady Raiders started last week with a big win over the Manson Trojans April 29. The game was over in the third inning due to the mercy rule. Four Lady Raiders batted perfectly against the Trojans: Roxanne Belgarde hit four for four; Baylee Daniels, Kassidi Boutain, and Tristen Adolph all went three for three. On the mound against the Trojans, Adolph struck out six batters, giving up only one hit; and the defense helped to shut out Manson. Raider Track traveled to Mansfield for the makeup Iceberg Invite on April 29. The Raider boys’ team finished fourth overall and the girls took home fifth for the small meet that was a tuneup for the Raiders for the invite on May 3 in Oroville. The Draggoo Financial Invite there featured a 14-school field with many Caribou Trail League and Central Washington B schools. LR boys finished 10th overall with 12 team points. LR’s tennis team rebounded from a total loss early last week with a sweep and a half at the start of May. At Okanogan April 29, the Raiders were swept, both boys and girls, by the Bulldogs. Holly Jo Carriere came back in the second set of her match against Luisa Cardenas to make it close, 6-0, 7-5. Brandin Smith’s loss to Blake Chesledon 6-2, 6-4, was as close to a win as the boys came. The Raiders extended their win streak to five games last week with wins at home and away. Lake Roosevelt took on the Hornets at Greene Field April 29, but Oroville did not roll over easily. The game was close but the Raiders pulled ahead and stayed ahead to win by four runs, 9-5. LR travelled to Bridgeport May 3 for a doubleheader against the Mustangs, who were on a three-game win streak and looking to upset the Raiders’ winning ways. Raider golf defeated a small Manson Trojan team April 29 at Lake Chelan in an 18-hole contest. Manson had only one boy and two girls competing against LR. The boys medalist, Riley Dickinson, was from Liberty Bell competing for Manson. LR competed at Cashmere in the Rieke Invitational April 25, but got rained out at a Mansfield’s Iceberg Invite April 22. At Cashmere, the Raider girls finished 21st overall with 10 team points. The Raider boys did not score any team points. Chyenne Kelly-Marconi scored all the team points for the Raiders. Three home tennis matches against White Swan came down to tiebreaks, with LR winning all three April 22. The weather became a factor as the matches, played on both the high school courts and the Coulee Dam Community Courts in Cole Park, had to be delayed for two hours due to rain. The delay meant that the final match was not completed until 8 p.m. Daniel Campobasso’s singles match against Tre Deleon finished with a 10-8 tiebreak. The league-leading Mountain Lions held the Raiders to one run April 22 at Liberty Bell, defeating Lake Roosevelt 6-1, but LR did not stay down, as the Billygoats were to discover. The Pateros Billygoats travelled to Greene Field Saturday for a doubleheader that was pushed ahead from 11 a.m. to 9:30 for the first game. Lake Roosevelt tennis took on the Gorrillas April 16, with the girls coming home from Davenport with a 3-0 victory. The Raider boys came up short, losing 1-3. Raider baseball rebounded from their loss to Liberty Bell by winning all three games last week. At home against Bridgeport April 15, the Raiders blanked the Mustangs en route to a big league win. Lake Roosevelt’s track and field team travelled to Davenport April 15 and to Quincy on Saturday for the first of three two-meet weeks in a row. Lady Raider softball picked up their first two wins of the 2014 season at Manson on Saturday. Lady Raider pitching showed positive improvement. In the first game of the doubleheader, Savannah Marin struck out 10 batters, allowing only seven walks. In the second game, Kourtney Harrington stuck out three Trojans and walked only four. In fact, the second game was called after the third inning because the Lady Raiders mercy ruled the Trojans. Raiders competed in three tennis matches during the past week. On April 10th LR travelled to Wilson Creek to take on the small Devils squad. Then on the 11th LR hosted the League leading Liberty Bell Mt. Lions. LR then turned around and hosted the Pateros Billygoats/Nannies on April 14th. Raider Track traveled to Bridgeport April 8 to take part in the Brewster Relays. All events were scored as relays, even the throwing events. As of deadline, Raider Head Coach Lori Adkins had no comment on the meet. On athletic.net neither Coach Adkins or Brewster has uploaded any results for the meet. Raider Golf hosted its first home match of the season on April 10 at Banks Lake Golf Course. Lake Roosevelt had only three golfers compete against Riverside Christian, so there is no team score for the event. Austin Rosenbaum was the only Raider boy at the match. He played 18 holes. Rosenbaum continues to lead the Raiders picking up his second medal of the season finishing the 18 hole match with a score of 99.
