Raider Track traveled to Mansfield for the makeup Iceberg Invite on April 29.

The Raider boys’ team finished fourth overall and the girls took home fifth for the small meet that was a tuneup for the Raiders for the invite on May 3 in Oroville.

The Draggoo Financial Invite there featured a 14-school field with many Caribou Trail League and Central Washington B schools.

LR boys finished 10th overall with 12 team points. The Raider girls tied for seventh with Omak with 34 team points.

The meet was delayed by a half hour due to a cloud burst.

“The start may have been soggy, but the Raiders were sharp!” Head Coach Lori Adkins said. “They didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits. … As the sun came out their performances peaked.”

Will Friedlander placed eighth in the 800 with the personal record time of 2 minutes, 28.39 seconds. Robert George took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles at 20.01 seconds. The 4x100 team of Will Friedlander, Cameron Tillman, Robert George, and Josh Wilder placed seventh in 51.40 seconds. The 4x400 team of Cameron Tillman, Matthew Tillman, Josh Wilder, and Paladine Williams took sixth in 4:11.04.

“Several athletes showed versatility by filling in on relays and trying distance events,” Adkins said.

In the field events, LR had two placers. Nathan Morrell placed sixth in the discus with a PR throw of 100 feet, 2 inches. Morrell is ecstatic about his performance and wants to continue to build on this success for a postseason run, Adkins said.

In the pole vault, Gene Fenton placed third, clearing the 8-foot standard.

Chyenne Kelly-Marconi continues to lead the Raider girls by again placing in all four of her events. Kelly Marconi finished second in both the long and triple jump.
