    It’s hard to go to work if you’ve got no one to watch the kids. That’s a problem Coulee Medical Center will tackle, at least for its own employees, following a decision by hospital commissioners Monday night. They voted to spend up to $15,000 to fund a refurbishment of the basement of the old clinic building to house a daycare program for hospital employees. A relative lack of daycare facilities was identified as a problem for economic development locally as far back as 2009 by the Horizons study funded by a grant through Washington State... Full story

    Grand Coulee Police 2/21 - Police tasered a 55-year-old Bremerton man who allegedly had taken items from Safeway. He had allegedly tried to conceal his real identity because, he said, the Department of Corrections had a warrant out for him. Charges include assaulting a police officer in the third degree, resisting arrest, obstructing a law enforcement officer, third-degree theft and making false statements to an officer.     Chamber of commerce members will award the “Achiever of the Year” and the “Business of the Year” at a special noon luncheon March 10, scheduled at the Moose Lodge. The woman was given a New Hope packet and told to contact police if she needed help. - Dispatch advised police of a mental health issue with a woman at Safeway.     One man is in jail and another suspect is being sought after a county interagency task force and the Secret Service raided a Grand Coulee residence early Friday morning. The raid site was lined with police vehicles and slowed traffic that used Burdin Boulevard as a route to get to work. Arrested and jailed was Melvin E. Toulou, Jr., 42, of 308 Burdin Boulevard.     Grand Coulee Police 1/30 - A vehicle owned by an Elmer City woman was pulled over for outdated Montana plates.     Electric City took a giant step forward toward building a proposed multi-million dollar walking trail last week when the city council set aside $400,000 of the city’s hotel/motel tax funds to help pay for the project.
