Residents of Electric City could receive a Parks and Trails Survey as early as this week. The survey asks more than 20 questions about how residents view their city and what their needs are for the future. The survey came out of a community meeting held Jan. 20, at Coulee Medical Center, and is tied to Electric City’s plan to put in a pathway and trail system using tourism-dedicated lodging tax funds to do so. A Lake Stevens man led Grand Coulee police officers on a chase and withstood getting hit with tasers at least four times Monday morning before finally being subdued. Arrested and taken to Grant County jail Monday was Kyle A. Simpson, 26, who had allegedly taken a number of clothing items from the Variety Store without paying for them. Grand Coulee Police 3/26 - An Electric City man living on Fourth Street told police that three individuals were on his property without permission. The three said they were looking for gas because their vehicle was low on gas. The trio told police that they got angry when the man called them thieves. Fred and Valeta Long, of Grand Coulee, will celebrate 70 years of marriage on Saturday. They were married April 2, 1946. Home from World War II, Fred had not thought he would ever get married, believing that he would never meet a woman who met his expectations. "But the moment I saw her, I knew she was going to be my wife," he said. "It's been a good 70 years." Fred, 93, and Valeta, 90, have lived in Grand Coulee for the last 23-and-a-half years. Grand Coulee Police 3/21 - A woman complained to police that she had loaned a pair of gloves to a man who was trimming her trees and she didn’t get the gloves back. Police are reviewing the incident for theft in the third degree charges. - Police arrested two men at Sunny Drive NE and Fifth Street in Electric City for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. An Electric City woman walking her dog near the Methodist Church in Grand Coulee was attacked and bitten by a "huge" pit bull March 14. Angela M. Nomee, 49, told police that she saw the dog but didn't think it was going to move from where it was; then suddenly it struck her, knocking her to the ground, and attacked her dog, Ginger, tearing a hole in its shoulder. Ambulance runs reported Grand Coulee’s ambulance crew responded to 19 calls during February, city council members learned last Tuesday night. Six calls were to Coulee Dam (32 percent), three were transports out of the area and 10 calls were in the Grand Coulee area. The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce named its "Achiever of Year" and "Business of the Year" at a special awards luncheon last Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
