Grand Coulee Police 3/21 - A woman complained to police that she had loaned a pair of gloves to a man who was trimming her trees and she didn’t get the gloves back. Police are reviewing the incident for theft in the third degree charges. - Police arrested two men at Sunny Drive NE and Fifth Street in Electric City for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. An Electric City woman walking her dog near the Methodist Church in Grand Coulee was attacked and bitten by a "huge" pit bull March 14. Angela M. Nomee, 49, told police that she saw the dog but didn't think it was going to move from where it was; then suddenly it struck her, knocking her to the ground, and attacked her dog, Ginger, tearing a hole in its shoulder. Ambulance runs reported Grand Coulee’s ambulance crew responded to 19 calls during February, city council members learned last Tuesday night. Six calls were to Coulee Dam (32 percent), three were transports out of the area and 10 calls were in the Grand Coulee area. There were no fire calls, but there was one mutual aid call, and firefighters responded to Coulee Medical Center, where a bad sensor set off an alarm. The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce named its "Achiever of Year" and "Business of the Year" at a special awards luncheon last Thursday at the Moose Lodge. The chamber membership chooses the honorees through a ballot process. The "Achiever of the Year" is Debbie Bigelow, chief executive officer at Coulee Medical Center. It’s hard to go to work if you’ve got no one to watch the kids. That’s a problem Coulee Medical Center will tackle, at least for its own employees, following a decision by hospital commissioners Monday night. They voted to spend up to $15,000 to fund a refurbishment of the basement of the old clinic building to house a daycare program for hospital employees. Grand Coulee Police 2/21 - Police tasered a 55-year-old Bremerton man who allegedly had taken items from Safeway. He had allegedly tried to conceal his real identity because, he said, the Department of Corrections had a warrant out for him. Charges include assaulting a police officer in the third degree, resisting arrest, obstructing a law enforcement officer, third-degree theft and making false statements to an officer. Grand Coulee Police 2/16 - Police followed up on a report of a possible domestic issue and were told by a couple that they had argued but nothing physical occurred. The woman was given a New Hope packet and told to contact police if she needed help. - Dispatch advised police of a mental health issue with a woman at Safeway. One man is in jail and another suspect is being sought after a county interagency task force and the Secret Service raided a Grand Coulee residence early Friday morning. The raid site was lined with police vehicles and slowed traffic that used Burdin Boulevard as a route to get to work. Arrested and jailed was Melvin E. Toulou, Jr., 42, of 308 Burdin Boulevard. A public workshop will be held this Thursday night at the Electric City fire station to develop survey questions for the proposed Pathways project. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and take part by sharing their thoughts and vision of Electric City.
