An Electric City woman was arrested and taken to Grant County Jail Thursday evening, after allegedly stabbing her live-in partner twice in the back with a 12-inch kitchen knife. Kimberly Kay Piapot, 45, and Martin Thomas Stanley, 43, had been arguing at 214.5 W. Grand Avenue in Electric City when Piapot stabbed Stanley, police reported. Coulee Dam 6/11 - A man who said he was wanted on a warrant turned himself in at the police department. Dispatch confirmed the warrant from Douglas County. He was taken to Okanogan County Jail. 6/12 - A woman was stopped for following another vehicle too closely. Upon checking, the officer found that the woman’s driver’s license was suspended. Cougar scare at school Center School was in lockdown Tuesday morning because of a report of a cougar seen behind the school crossing Martin Road. Principal Sue Hinton said that Brenda Francis reported the sighting. The lockdown meant that students, not likely to go out in the rain anyway, were kept inside. Hinton called the police and the state Fish & Wildlife Dept., where an official from the game department said they couldn’t immediately respond. Two Electric City men who live on 2nd Street face citations because their dogs allegedly attacked a woman while she was jogging May 10. Amanda Lyn Button, 34, who lives on 3rd Street, reported to police that the dogs bit her on both legs, and a relative of hers had to come out and chase the dogs away. When officers Adam Hunt and Sean Cook found the dogs, the dogs acted aggressively and one dog had to be pepper sprayed. One person was killed and five injured in the accident 30 miles west of Colfax.
