Marjorie Johnson

Marjorie Lou Walden Johnson came into this world on May 5, 1923, and went home to glory on May 8, 2012, after 89 years. She was born to Daniel Blinn Walden and Esther Louise Harp at Clinton, Ill. Her parents preceded her in death.

Marjorie started her schooling in Clinton and graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago, Ill. On March 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Charles William Johnson at St. Louis, Mo. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Marsha L. Johnson Fields of Electric City, Wash., and a son John Mark Johnson of Arlington, Wash. She was blessed with five grandchildren – Karie (Clint) Schuler; Trevor (Crystal) Fields; Melissa (Spencer) Dobrich, Derrick and Nicole Johnson. At the time of her death Marjorie had four great-grandchildren –Lawsen Schuler, Wyatt and Carter Steveson and Lucy Dobrich.

Marjorie and Charles were farming in Kinmundy, Ill., when they attended a revival meeting at the Kinmundy Methodist Church and they were converted to Christianity and became members in 1954.

In 1956 Charles was licensed to preach in the Methodist Church at Effingham, Ill., and together they served the Lord in Methodist Churches located in Illinois, Washington, Idaho and Montana. Charles passed away in 1990. Marjorie moved to Electric City in 1990 and was a member of the Grand Coulee United Methodist Church. In 1965 she became a member of the Eastern Star at Chewelah, Wash.

Marjorie’s family wishes to thank the Coulee Medical Center long term care staff for taking such good care of her the past three years. Your kindness and caring are truly appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held at the Grand Coulee United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
