Doris Ann Bonertz, 86, was surrounded by her loving family, in her Elmer City, Washington, home Tuesday morning, March 16, 2021, when she passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior – Jesus.  Born Friday, April 6, 1934 in LaPlata County, Colorado, to George Roy & Mary Pauline Augusta Liese-Brown, Doris graduated in 1952 from High School in Newport, Washington.  After her first husband William A. Finch passed away in 1982, following 28 years of marriage; Doris married Donald Bonertz at the Nazarene Church in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on Saturday, October 22, 1983.   With that ever-present twinkle in her eyes, Doris was a long-time member of Faith Community Church in Electric City, Washington, and enjoyed working with and for the citizens of Elmer City, Washington for 36 years as their City Clerk. Doris loved Elmer City, it was "Her Town."  Doris was known by everyone in town and aside from her duties as clerk, she served on advisory boards, trimmed - planted and cleaned up the city park, loved going for long walks when she was able and in her younger years played basketball with other ladies from the community as a member of "The Red Hot Mamas."   An avid quilter, gardener and stamp collector, Doris' family members all agree that her love language was "Food."   Doris loved cooking for family and friends, watching them enjoy good times around the table, where Doris was often the last to arrive to eat.

Predeceased by her first husband,  William A Finch, Doris' legacy lives on through her devoted husband of 37 years,  Donald Bonertz; children: John Finch (Sue), Nancy Fenton, Mary Sivey (Ron), Carolyn Holdener David, David Finch, Jennifer Dettore, Michael Bonertz (Christi) and Theresa McClellan (Mitchel); 16 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; siblings: Pauline Lepsche, Georgia Krosch and Roy Brown (Vickie) as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Doris' life will be announced at a later date.  Her family will place her urn at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee, Washington, during a private service.
