Raiders win football season opener

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders were strong as ever on Friday when they defeated the Tonasket Tigers, 37-0, in a football blowout in Tonasket.

The Raiders were "led by a strong rushing attack," Head Coach Tim Rasmussen wrote on the team's website.

Senior Hunter Whitelaw led the attack, running for three touchdowns.

Sophomore Brit Egbert threw two touchdown passes, one to sophomore Chase Clark and one to junior Gabe Waters.

The Raiders will host the Oroville Hornets at home in Coulee Dam on Friday, March 12, at 7 p.m.

Attendance is limited to two guests per player but is available to all others to watch in a live stream at http://www.lrraiders.com .

Volleyball loses in Liberty Bell

The Lady Raiders volleyball team lost their games in the Methow Valley on Saturday, losing 3-1 in their sets against Liberty Bell, and 3-0 against Brewster.

"It was a rough day for us for some reason," said Head Coach Teri Sue Reed, "I know that we are a better team."

Reed mentioned that leaving early in the morning and playing early had an effect, as well.

"Emma Marchand and Audrey Hansen are my standout players this year, but my group of freshman on varsity are hot on their tales!" she noted. "Nevaeh English has stepped into the Libero roll and is killing it! I'm really excited about this freshman group. They are going be fun to follow."

The Lady Raiders' next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 13, in Okanogan where they will play both Okanogan at 11:30 a.m. and Warden at 2:30 p.m.
