Terri Lee Covington

Terri Lee Covington was called home to join her ancestors in the early morning hours on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

Terri was brought into this world on Monday July 4, 1966 in Brewster, Washington, by Odile Bigwolf and Edward Covington Sr. She was an enrolled member of the Colville Confederated Tribes from the Wenatchi and Moses-Columbia Tribes on her father's side, she was also Kainaiwa of the Blood Band in Standoff Alberta, Canada on her mother's side.

She received her education from Nespelem School, St. Mary's Mission and Lake Roosevelt High School where she received her high school diploma. Following her graduation, Terri then went onto college at Wenatchee Valley College where also played for the college basketball Team.

Terri grew up in the Nespelem area most of her life until she moved to Coulee Dam then to San Poil Valley to raise her children. She was an outstanding athlete played basketball, baseball, softball, track and rodeo. When Terri was on your team you knew you had very outstanding odds to win! Her tenacious love of the sport made her that outstanding player, athlete or cowgirl. Her love for these sports carried on in her coaching, she helped form the Nespelem Raptors, Keller Chipmunks and other teams. She loved to cheer on her kids, nieces, nephews and grandson, any and all family members in general, she would show up to anyone she loved events and cheer them on. Terri was a famous fry bread maker. She loved to cook for family and friends and hosted several family dinners, also for the community.

Terri loved her jobs, most of her life time and job career was spent outdoors she was not afraid of the hard work that these types of jobs demanded, whether it be camping out for 14 days or going to do a presentation to council, she welcomed all that work. She worked for Mt. Tolman in various capacities she was a Wildland Fire Fighter, crew-squad boss, then she moved on to work for the Tribes Environmental Trust department to continue to work outdoors and take care of the reservation.

Terri enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, pow wows, rodeos, cooking her famous fry bread and hosting family gatherings. Her greatest love will always be her Children, Grandson, Family and many loved Friends.

Proceeded in death by both parents; siblings: David Covington, Edward Covington Jr, Robert "Bigfoot" Covington, and Debbie Covington, Terri's proud legacy continues on thru the life of her children: Derrick Ross Vargas, Farrah Jo Ashley Vargas, Dustin Hawk Chambers and Shelby Mustang Wellons; grandson, Theron Zeb Larson; siblings: Lonnie "Smokey" Covington (Audrey), Darryl Covington, Alan Covington, Audrey Chicone (Mark), Wayne Covington, Sharon Covington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Burial took Place at Little Nespelem Cemetery on Wednesday December 23, 2020

Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee Washington is assisting the family with services.
