Barbara Fay (Quigley) Hayward, born November 30, 1957, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Born in Everett, Washington, to William (Bill) and Ardith Quigley, at age 13 the family moved to Marysville, Washington, where Barbara graduated from Marysville–Pilchuck High School in 1976.

It was Memorial Day weekend in her hometown in 1982 when she met Charles (Chuck) Hayward, and in September of 1984 the two were married in Valdosta, Georgia. In her supporting role as a wife, she traveled with Chuck to Salsbury, Maryland; Arlington, Washington; and in late 1991, to a life of retirement in Elmer City, Washington. Opportunities allowed vacationing to the Cook Islands, a cruise to the Caribbean and a return to Valdosta.

Barbara became a member of Banks Lake Baptist Church in 1995. She served in the local church at times in the Deaconess ministries and taught Sunday School to young children. Barbara found great joy in being around family and friends. She was challenged to keep up with the products of many years of successful gardening she and her husband recognized, and found herself active in the annual harvest and preserving of foods produced. When she wasn't busy doing this, she found herself sharing the fruits of their labors with family and friends in get-together breakfasts, lunches and dinners, as well as providing meals for those in need through her church fellowship. When time allowed, Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, putting puzzles together, playing board games and watching movies. She was involved in a local bowling league, acting as secretary for some of those years. Her caring for the many companion dogs she and her husband had through the years provided avenues for love and laughter that helped expand her affection for life.

Barbara was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Ardith Quigley, and sister, Mary Gunselman, all of Arlington; and nephew, B.J. Spafford of Spokane, Washington.

She leaves behind her husband of 33 years, Charles (Chuck) Hayward of Elmer City; brothers: Scott (Valerie) Quigley of Medical Lake, Washington, Tom Quigley of Woodinville, Washington; sister, Peggy (Jay) Spafford of Spokane; stepchildren: Susan (Eric) Erga of Marysville, Washington, Naomi (Patrick) Brown of Moses Lake; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks for care Barbara received are extended to the in-home caregivers; local EMS personnel; staff at Coulee Medical Center, Grand Coulee, Washington; staff of Colville Convalescent Center, Nespelem, Washington; and staff of Columbia Crest Rehabilitation Center in Moses Lake.

Memorial Services will be held at Banks Lake Bible Church, 25 School Avenue, Electric City, WA, 99123, at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 2. Remembrance gifts are requested to be made to the American Diabetes Association.
