James Timothy "Tim" Hurley, 68, of Salem, Oregon died from complications of pneumonia on June 11, 2015. He was born along with a twin brother, John Michael, on January 3, 1947, in Spokane and was raised in Almira and Coulee Dam.

He graduated from Coulee Dam High School in 1965 where he was active in both football and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a radio technician on the USS Caliente. During his service, he received a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After receiving his honorable discharge in September 1969, Tim returned to Coulee Dam. He married Mary E. Irwin on April 17, 1970, in Spokane and became a father in June 1973, when their only child, Jennifer Anne, was born. They divorced in 1984.

Tim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, camping, scuba diving and trap shooting. He worked at the Grand Coulee Dam from 1970 until his retirement in January 1995. He was also active with the Grand Coulee Moose Lodge, Almira Gun Club, Coulee Dam Fire Department, and Okanogan County Search and Rescue, where he served as a diver.

In 2006, he relocated to Oregon and remained there until his death, always holding out hope of returning to Eastern Washington.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marguerite Hurley, and grandson, Eric Jacob Locklear.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Locklear and her husband, Morgan Locklear, of Newport, Ore; his former wife and close friend, Mary Bartels, of Newport, Ore; his brother, John Michael Hurley, of Grants Pass, Ore; grandson, Cameron Locklear, and granddaughter, Abby Locklear.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, August 17, at Almira Cemetery. His friends are invited to attend.
