    Jacob Wagner|Jan 31, 2018

The league mix and match was held in Coulee Dam on Saturday, with all six teams from the Central Washington 2B league in attendance: Lake Roosevelt, Oroville, Tonasket, Brewster, Pateros, and Liberty Bell. The event helped give wrestlers the chance to face off with league opponents they haven't wrestled yet, and also helps coaches determine seeding for the districts tournament in Oroville. To get his first-place spot in the 152-pound weight division Saturday in Kittitas, Nichols won by technical fall, 15-0, against Lopez from Oroville; pinned Burvee from Ellensburg at the one-minute, 59-second mark; and defeated Jones from Colfax 6-2. This past week the Lady Raiders basketball squad had a solid win in Oroville, and a home game canceled and rescheduled due to weather. In Oroville on Jan. 9, the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Hornets 61-21, a similar score to earlier in the season when LR won 63-22 against Oroville. “It was a good all-around defensive game for us,” Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said. “We worked hard on moving our feet and staying in front. • Raider boys come up just short

    Jacob Wagner|Jan 17, 2018

The Raiders came up just shy of victory in Oroville last week, and a home game had to be rescheduled due to snow. On Jan. 9 in Oroville, the Raiders lost by just one point to the Hornets, 44-43. “It was a frustrating game, one we knew we should have won,” said Head Coach Jeremy Crollard. “We had so many opportunities that we missed. We just couldn’t stop their big guy, who had 20-25 rebounds. We drew up a play with 10 seconds left and ended up having a wide open layup with three seconds left and missed it. We have to move forward from here. H...

  • Raider wrestlers reign in Rainier

    Jacob Wagner|Jan 17, 2018

Lake Roosevelt wrestlers crossed the Cascade mountains all the way to Rainier last week, where they wrestled yetis on the side of the mountain. Well, not exactly. In actuality, they wrestled at Rainier High School, where Kaleb Horn and Tony Nichols placed first, Robert Thomas placed fifth, and the rest gained some solid experience. Wrestling at 132 pounds, Horn pinned his opponent, Gerrish from Rainier, then defeated Steele from Klahowya 5-1 before defeating Stafford from Klahowya 4-0 to secure the first-place spot. “That was a tough match, a g...

    Jacob Wagner|Jan 10, 2018

"They almost gave me a heart attack on that one," Raider Head Coach Jeremy Crollard said about a 77-74 overtime victory the Raiders pulled off against the Mustangs last week before a losing in Waterville. Hosting the Bridgeport Mustangs Jan. 2, the Raiders were down seven points at the start of the second quarter, trailing 18-11, but put up 14 in the second quarter to the Mustangs' eight, cutting their lead down to one point. A high-scoring third quarter for both teams put the score tied at 51...

The Lady Raiders beat the Fillies by 50 points in Coulee Dam Jan. 2, with a final score of 73-23. At the Powerhouse Tournament on Dec. 28, first-place spots went to Lake Roosevelt's Jon Shelley, wrestling at the 113-120-pound weight class; Kaleb Horn at 138; Tony Nichols at 152; and Ida Sue in the girls' division.
