This past week, Raider wrestlers held their annual Powerhouse Tournament at home before attending the Banks Lake Brawl in Coulee City. Raiders nabbed a lot of firsts at the events, in addition to their other placings. The Lady Raiders beat the Fillies by 50 with a final score of 73-23 before the Raiders pulled off a comeback victory in overtime against the Mustangs 77-74. Against Manson on Dec. 12, the Lady Raiders led the entire game, by 28-17 at the half, and finished with a final score of 51-33. Raider wrestlers took part in the Oroville Mixer and the Cashmere Invite this past week. Fewer wrestlers attended these events than usual due to winter sickness and holidays, but those who did gained experience nonetheless. Lake Roosevelt’s wrestlers went to Oroville Dec. 13 for their mixer, where Raiders won seven out of their 18 total matches. Raider wrestlers hosted the LR Mix & Match Dec. 6, then participated in the Connell Invite and the Warden Women's Invite on Dec. 9. The Lady Raiders basketball team used a can of Raid on the Hornets on Saturday, decimating them 63-22. LR outscored Oroville 27-14 in the first half of the game, then dominated the third quarter, putting up 22 points, while only allowing one free-throw Hornet point, to lead 49-15 at the start of the fourth. The Raiders and Lady Raiders played in a jamboree on Nov. 28 at home, hosting teams from Inchelium and Wilbur-Creston-Keller. The Raiders got stung by the Oroville Hornets in overtime on Saturday, losing the neck-and-neck home basketball game with a final score of 58-55.
