Gayle Rayoum, of Coulee Dam, was crowned Washington State Queen at the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) State Convention in Ocean Shores in May. Rayoum lost a total of 118 pounds to reach her goal and graduated as a KOPS (Keep Pounds Off Sensibly). Cody Proctor, of Grand Coulee, has been awarded a $6,000 Montana Broadcasters Association/Joe Durso Jr. Memorial Scholarship from The University of Montana. Proctor is a UM senior majoring in broadcast journalism. She is a 2008 graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School and the daughter of Gordon and Kathleen Proctor of Grand Coulee.
