The Grant County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) announced Monday that they are seeking grant applications for qualifying tourism-promotion campaigns, events and projects for 2022. Twelve more COVID-19 deaths are confirmed in Grant County, including a woman from Grand Coulee who was in her 70s, county health officials announced last week. Vaccinations may have helped prevent roughly 3,400 new COVID-19 infections and 500 deaths among seniors in Washington state during the first five months of 2021, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation said Tuesday that it must postpone its annual general membership meeting that had been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1. The decision was made to keep families and employees safe during the Covid-19 emergency, a press release said. The tribes will seek to reschedule the annual meeting on a future date. A young Grand Coulee woman died Saturday after a one-car rollover crash about five miles south of Grand Coulee around 1 p.m. Tavian Beasley, 27, had been driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer south on SR-155 when the SUV drove onto the shoulder.
