Grand Coulee 10/5 - An officer was called to Western Avenue in Electric City, where a German Shepherd was growling at a boy on a scooter and wouldn’t let him pass. The dog was later found on Grand Avenue East and a cousin of the dog’s owner tied it up. - Police told a group of people going door to door in Electric City selling vacuum cleaners that they needed a permit. There are an estimated 1,000 wild horses roaming free on the Colville Indian Reservation that have caused significant damage to certain areas they occupy, the tribal Fish and Wildlife Dept. says. The areas that have become overgrazed contribute to the spread of invasive species, compaction, and erosion. Grand Coulee Police 10/1 - Coulee Playland reported that someone had taken two full 6-gallon gas cans from boats the firm rents. The loss was reported at $160, and the firm planned to review its security cameras to see if the theft was caught on camera. - A passenger’s explanation of why he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt didn’t sit too well with an officer who asked him why. Zion Lutheran Church is busy preparing to celebrate it’s 75th Anniversary. Pastor Hugo Guerney came to town in 1935. Zion was incorporated on October 4, 1937, and has been a part of the community ever since. The 75th Anniversary celebration will be on Sunday, October 7 with former Pastor Dan Wurster preaching at the regular morning service at 11 am. Grand Coulee Police 9/17 - A woman on 2nd Street in Electric City told police that she was in the process of moving out of a house and that when she went there the next day the front door had been broken into. She asked for special patrols so it wouldn’t happen again. - Whitley Fuel advised police that a customer reported that a man was harassing customers at their Grand Coulee station.
