  • Community youth group to start

    A community youth group will be starting up again under the director of Pastor Kevin Lind of the Coulee Dam Community Presbyterian Church and Pastor Adrian Harris of the Grand Coulee Church of the Nazarene. It will meet at the middle school on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is open to middle school and high school students. The first meeting is Sunday, Sept. 9, and a giant ice cream sundae is in the works.... Full story

    Grand Coulee Police 8/25 - Police picked up a man at Banks Lake Pub wanted on several warrants. He was taken to Grant County Jail. - A woman entering a yard on Division Street to deliver some tomatoes was bitten on the leg by a dog. Police told the owner of the dog that a report would be filed and the incident reviewed for a possible declaration of the dog being dangerous. - A Montana man was found asleep in his car off Martin Road and the officer could smell alcohol in the car.     After 32 years, Dan Fagerlie is retiring Aug. 31 as WSU Ferry County and Colville Reservation Extension director-educator and 4-H agent, his office announced last week. Fegrelie started in the area in 1980. He worked with 4-H leaders to build Ferry County 4-H into one of the strongest programs in the state, as well as having one the longest running 4-H Challenge Programs on the Colville Reservation.     Grand Coulee 8/16 - Police found a large white fluffy dog loose on Burdin Boulevard. The dog was taken to the veterinary clinic and later picked up by its owner. 8/17 - A Grand Coulee man was cited for reckless driving and hit and run when the vehicle he was driving left the road on “A” Street and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle suffered $2,000 damage and the driver had a broken nose which was treated at Coulee Medical Center.     Grand Coulee Police 8/4 - A woman on Goodfellow in Electric City told police that she thought her live-in boyfriend was making homemade explosives in the laundry room. Police found cardboard tubes and multiple small kegs of black and gun powder. She said her boyfriend had a compound in Omak where she said he had a “bunker type” structure half buried in the ground.     Grand Coulee Police 7/30 - USBR’s Plant Protection requested that police use their explosives-detecting dog to aid in the search of a Canadian truck making a delivery. Nothing was found. 7/31 - Police responded to an incident in which a 2-year-old child had suffered a broken wrist. Police were called by an emergency room doctor who said the break would not occur from a fall by a 2-year-old.
