    Chamber to Meet at Noon The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its noon meeting at Siam Palace in Grand Coulee on Thursday, Nov. 7 This week’s program will be presented by CPA Kelly Buche of JR Newhouse on the end-of-year tax preparation.     This week marks the beginning of Trees of Sharing 2013. The community-wide Trees of Sharing program is a special way that Grand Coulee Dam area residents may anonymously bless local children who might not otherwise receive a gift this Christmas season. Names of children may be submitted on wish slips and dropped into collection boxes located at Safeway, Coulee Medical Center, and Harvest Foods. “Trees of Sharing” is specifically for children residing in the Grand Coulee Dam area.     A cash award of $500 is available to an Okanogan County woman for the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award. This award is presented by Soroptimist International of Okanogan Valley to a woman who is head of her household and must obtain education or skills training to enter or re-enter the workforce in order to support herself and her family. He told police that he owns 2nd Street. - A woman on Burdin Boulevard told police that someone had stolen her two dogs.     Grand Coulee Police 10/12 - A woman on Weil Place told police that some kind of oil was poured on her doorstep. She said that there were foot prints leading from next door to her door. Police took note of the type of shoe imprinted in the oil. The woman said she saw a known party in the vicinity and police looked for the man and when they found him he had on shoes similar to those imprinted in the oil.     Grand Coulee 10/8 - Police were called to the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School after a bomb threat note was found in a student’s book. The writing on the note matched the student’s handwriting. The student wouldn’t admit that he wrote the note. Officials at the school suspended the student for five days. 10/9 - USBR Plant Protection advised police that an employee drove recklessly as he approached the Station 3 guard shack. The guard reported the incident to his supervisor who called police. An officer met with the employee who denied the repor... Full story

    That’s one big pumpkin! Bill Niendam of Elmer City shows off what he calls his “300 pound pumpkin.” He and his wife Dusty raised a single pumpkin in their garden on Front Street. He said the pumpkin vine had a number of blooms but only one pumpkin. “We used a giant pumpkin seed for this one,” he said.
