Free chipper event coming to Coulee Dam, Elmer City and Nespelem

Fall is a great time to clear out your yard - removing woody debris also lowers the wildfire risk around your property, so the Okanogan Conservation District, in partnership with CCT Environmental Trust, is hosting free events for you to dispose of unburned and burnt woody yard waste.

This includes two free drop-off days at the recycling center in Nespelem and a mobile chipping event where a crew comes to collect piles from your driveway.  

These events are in addition to the Regional Board of Mayors' Fall Cleanup Day, open to all area residents, at the Delano Transfer Station Oct. 24 from 8-3. (See that announcement on page 7.

Free recycling center drop-off

(vegetative burnt material allowed):

8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Oct.16 and 23

 Branches and woody natural debris only

Free mobile chipping

(no burnt material allowed):

Oct. 19, 20, and 21

Stack pile(s) at the end of your driveway by 8 a.m. on October 19.

Vegetative waste and woody materials only: branches, bushes, etc., less than 8 inches in diameter.

Form multiple piles approximately 3 ft wide and 3 ft tall rather than one large pile.

A wood chipper operates in Okanogan County. One like this can be scheduled to come to your home to pick up piles of woody waste and chip them. Burnt materials can be chipped in your neighborhood, but can be at the recycling center in Nespelem Oct. 16 and 23.
