    Grand Coulee Police 3/31 - Police stopped a car at Main Street and Federal Avenue when the officer noticed that a passenger didn’t have his seatbelt on. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license. - A woman brought a bag of clothes she said was found near Spring Canyon on SR-174. Police are holding the bag of clothes for the owner. 4/1 - Plant Protection advised police of two men in a restricted area near North Dam Park. The two told police that they just wanted to fish.     The Lions Club and Coulee Medical Center are offering a free health screening here Friday, April 11, from 10-4. The screening will take place at Coulee Medical Center using the Northwest Lions Foundation mobile unit. The screening includes blood pressure, glaucoma, diabetes, sight and hearing. The Lions Club mobile unit is staffed by health professionals, Lions Club members and volunteers. The 62-foot unit travels throughout the Northwest providing this free service to the public.... Full story

    Pack 24 is pleased to announce that two of it's members achieved the highest award that can be earned in Cub Scouts - the Arrow of Light.     The Okanogan Valley District Pinewood Derby Races took place Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Sunrise Chevrolet in Omak, Wash. Packs represented were 20, 23, 24, 25, and 60. Each represented pack sent their top three finishers from their own Pinewood Derby. Local Pack 24 sent Noah Hunt, Showaway Hunt, and Paul Stout with the hope of racing for a trophy.     Shane Proctor and some of his PRCA bull wrestling friends will conduct the fifth annual Bull/Steer Riding School, April 8 and 9, at the Nespelem Rodeo Arena. Tentative instructors are Proctor, Colby Reilly, Ben Jones and Ryan Dirteater. Others might be added, officials stated.     This is the time of year to prune your shrubs that will bloom on this season’s growth. Generally these are shrubs which bloom after June. Some of these shrubs common in our landscapes are the Butterfly Bush, Spirea, Beauty Bush, and Snowberry. The spring blooming shrubs bloom on last season’s growth. Minor corrective pruning can be done now. This can include removing dead wood and broken branches, branches that lay on the ground and suckers at the base of the shrub.
