    Grand Coulee Police 10/26 - A Roosevelt Drive resident reported that one of his tires had been slashed, apparently with a knife. Cost of repair tire was $150. 10/28 - Police checked on a 911 call from the Jack’s Spring Canyon Service. When checking on the call, the officer learned that someone had gassed up and then left without paying. The amount was $50. The person who drove off returned and paid for the gas. - Lincoln County officials asked for assistance in contacting a woman who had left the scene of an accident.     Officials in the town of Coulee Dam are hopeful that they will be able to make a deal with the Bureau of Reclamation on a law enforcement contract. Mayor Quincy Snow, Police Chief Pat Collins and Councilmember Bob Poch met last Wednesday with the Bureau’s regional director, Lorri Lee, to make another attempt to land a contract.     Residents of Coulee Dam reported hearing, and feeling, a loud explosion coming from Grand Coulee Dam Wednesday afternoon. It was basically man-made thunder. Workers getting ready to test a generator under repair in the left powerhouse opened a gate to the penstock that flows water from behind the dam to the turbine that powers G-8, the generator under repair, explained Public Affairs Officer Lynne Brougher.     The Candy Point Trail is in trouble, and Carol Netzel has asked the Coulee Dam Town Council for help. Access to the Candy Point Trail is through Netzel’s front yard and when you arrive at the top you are afforded a bird’s eye view of Grand Coulee Dam and the town of Coulee Dam. In a letter to the council last Wednesday, Netzel appealed to town officials to come up with a plan to fix the deteriorating trail. “Although this is not on city land, it has always been considered one of our local attractions,” Netzel wrote to the council.     Grand Coulee Dam District schools will take part and allow Native students to participate in a Colville Indian suicide prevention day this Friday. Karee Picard, manager of the Colville Tribes’ K-12 Youth Program, appeared before the school board Monday night asking members to allow a minute of silence during lunch hour Friday to remember those on the reservation who have succumbed because of suicide.     Stan Rawley of Coulee Dam, Wash., passed away at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the age of 83. He was born on January 31, 1930, in Brewster, Wash. As a child, Stan's family moved to the Grand Coulee Dam area where his mother worked very hard as a switchboard operator for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to raise her two young sons.     A flap over law enforcement coverage at the Bureau of Reclamation has attracted the attention of its regional director. Yes, says Electric City resident Steve Salstrom, who has complained about the motorists who zoom by even when people are in the crosswalks.     Bus building sought Larry Curtis, representing the Senior Center, appeared again before Grand Coulee’s city council asking if the city will allow Seniors to build a garage in which to store their two buses. In a prior appearance, the council had advised Curtis that it appeared the garage would violate the city zoning code but that the city would get back to him. The commissioners are: Doris Bonertz, Wynne Dennis, Jeff DeWinkler, Ralph Rise and Robert Riley. A fallen pilot was honored with a quilt and wall hanging by a group of local quilters.     Frederick "Earl" DeCamp passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, one month shy of his 96th birthday. Earl was born November 28, 1917, on the DeCamp homestead eight miles north of Nespelem, Wash., to Earl DeCamp and Florence Knowles DeCamp. He graduated from Nespelem High School in 1935, joined a union and began working on Grand Coulee Dam.     Grand Coulee Police 10/12 - A woman on Weil Place told police that some kind of oil was poured on her doorstep. She said that there were foot prints leading from next door to her door. Police took note of the type of shoe imprinted in the oil. The woman said she saw a known party in the vicinity and police looked for the man and when they found him he had on shoes similar to those imprinted in the oil.
