    Grand Coulee Police 1/22 - An Electric City man was cited for third-degree theft after he was reportedly seen taking a bottle of wine from Safeway and leaving the store without paying for it. Police caught up with him on Burdin Boulevard and retrieved the wine.     Inland Northwest Blood Center along with the Grand Coulee community blood Drive volunteers led by Melanie Slatina are planning a blood drive for Monday, January 23. Donation hours will be from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the community room in Coulee Medical Center.     Grand Coulee Police 12/25 - A Moses Lake man asked police to check on his brother because he hadn’t heard from him for quite awhile. The man was fine, but didn’t have any minutes left on his phone so he couldn’t call his brother.     Grand Coulee Police 12/19 - A burglar at Sunbanks Lake Resort made off with several tools from a storage shed. Entry to the shed was gained with a key, suggesting, the report stated, that the party had access to a key. The person only took tools that worked. Batteries from various vehicles were also taken.     It had never been done here before, but by the time they pulled it off, about 250 hospital employees were trained in what to do if an "active shooter" ever enters Coulee Medical Center.     Grand Coulee Police 12/5 - Police are looking for an Elmer City woman who allegedly struck her boyfriend of six years, causing a cut in his nose. The man said he didn’t want to get his girlfriend in trouble.     Grand Coulee Police 11/27 - A man saw someone crouched near his girlfriend’s car at a Main Street apartment and yelled at him. His girlfriend came to the door and heard a “hissing” sound and saw the man letting the air out of her tire. She chased him for about a block.     Grand Coulee Dam area residents may soon have a second option for where they pick up their prescription drugs. Coulee Medical Center expects to have a new retail pharmacy up and running by early 2017, according to Jonathan Owens, chief executive officer. “We have had multiple request from the community for a new pharmacy and our board felt this was a service that was something that they also supported,” Owens said.     Coulee Medical Center has “every intention” of building a daycare center for their employees, according to Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Owens. Completion of the project is anticipated for May or June 2017, at the latest, Owens told his board of commissioners Monday night. Owens said $10,000 to $15,000 has already gone into remodeling the old clinic’s basement for the purpose, but because of updates from city and state regulators, building a separate daycare would be “much more cost effective.” Owens described a potential new building... Full story

    Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire Chief Richard Paris advised the council last week that ambulance calls will likely hit 400 for the year. He said that as of Nov. 15 the department had answered 347 calls, about normal. Paris also reported that during the month of October the department had 34 calls, including five in Coulee Dam and 21 in Grand Coulee. He said the ambulance had eight calls to transport patients.
