    Regional Director Lorri Lee has selected Rob Skordas as the new deputy regional director for Power and Infrastructure in Reclamation's Pacific Northwest Region. Skordas began his new position Oct. 17. He replaces Terry Kent, who will retire at the end of this year.     GRAND COULEE—The Grand Coulee Dam School District board Monday night approved two hires and accepted one resignation. Hired were Jeremy Crollard as seventh grade football coach; and Tom Severns as a school bus driver. Resigning was Pete Adolphe as eighth-grade girls basketball coach.     Grand Coulee Police 10/17 - Police checked on a complaint of a barking dog at a house on E. Grand Coulee Avenue. The officer tried to contact the owner of the dog, but no one was home. The report stated that this has been a problem before. 10/18 - A woman on Prims Place reported that she heard her screen door slam and looked out and saw a man walking away.     Two men with guns were arrested and taken to Grant County jail after shooting a street light out from their car near the top of the Grand Coulee Dam. The incident was reported to police by Plant Protection dispatcher Monroe Merriman, who heard the firing while outside his office.     Parents of kids who can't wait to use that Halloween costume can take their kids to the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center Thursday from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. for a quick trial run.     Grant County computer systems being down last week will delay or make it more difficult for Electric City and Grand Coulee to develop budgets for 2017. Electric City has a budget workshop scheduled for 6 p.m., Oct. 25. “We will just have to work around this,” City Clerk Jackie Perman said.     City supports health district Electric City Council voted $2,000 last week, to renew its relationship with the Grant County Health District. The health district asks $2 for each resident, and makes a number of special services available to cities and towns. The agreement is for 2017. She was born June 15, 1956, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Louis and Ellen Myrdean (Roseborough) Smith. After high school Tena went on to college and received her luris doctorate in Criminal Law, where she was an attorney for many years in Utah, Idaho and Washington, and for the Colville Confederated Tribes.     The administration and board of Grand Coulee Dam School District have set their sights on improving the graduation rate of Lake Roosevelt seniors. Under the district’s policy “Accountability Goals” the graduate rate objective is 85 percent. Superintendent Paul Turner said last week that the policy is outdated and that the board is waiting for information from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to update the policy. “The goal won’t change, but our goal is always 100 percent,” he said.     A Coulee Dam woman chased a thief off with a shovel in the middle of the night last week when she realized someone was stealing her motorcycle. The dirt bike stolen from Jaci Gross at her Coulee Dam residence on Stevens Avenue very early last Wednesday, Oct. 5, was recovered about noon the same day in Electric City. Gross was out in her lawn with a shovel when police arrived and told officers she was looking for the person who stole her motorcycle.     A group of hikers from Spokane, Cheney, Anacortes, Tri-Cities and Coulee Dam assembled at the trailhead of Candy Point Trail Sunday to walk it with scientists who would explain the geology of the rocks over which they were walking.     Revenues reported, budget proposed The Delano Regional Transfer Station reported revenues of $38,407.18, for the month of September to the Regional Board of Mayors Monday afternoon. It was $1,275.77 less than was reported for the same period last year. Revenues for eight of the nine months this year have been less than for the corresponding periods in 2015, with the total of $18,883.83, under revenue totals.     The Electric City Council passed tourism promotion funding package for local interests at its meeting Tuesday night. There was money from the city’s lodging tax for new activities, but less money than the city had given the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce in the past. Through a number of proposals, the chamber received $16,500, down from almost $30,000 the year before.
