  • Delano crimes are happening in Grand Coulee

    Jamie Holeman|Sep 25, 2024

In light of recent events in Delano, I think it’s time that the community hear it from an actual resident. I have noticed that everyone enjoys the gossip but when it comes to actual crimes happening, everyone becomes Helen Keller - You don’t see anything, you don’t hear anything and you don’t have anything to say. This includes other Delano residents. Everyone becomes a Facebook sleuth and willingly lends their opinion, but no one actually wants their names on paper. It’s important that the community understand that the crimes that are happe...

  • Jail isn't the answer - help is

    Jamie Holeman|Sep 11, 2019

A new jail to house addicts will surely make those Heathens turn clean! No. Stop with the ignorant way of thinking. If you believe that putting addicts in jail will suddenly make them non-addicts, then you must also believe that unicorns are real. Addiction is a plague that infects communities; it’s a cancer running through the bodies of those it affects. How many smokers have thought, “Man, if I could just put this cigarette down and never light another one,” only to strike up the next one a short time later? Or how about the alcoholic sitti...

  • Re: "Fake news" in Letters from our Readers, Aug. 22

    Jamie Holeman|Aug 29, 2018

In recent times a target has been painted on my back, and the backs of thousands of others who simply “work” in media. The leader of our country says on...

  • Why is the answer to change always no?

    Jamie Holeman|May 27, 2015

Why is it every time someone tries to bring something new into one of our little towns it is met with so much opposition? Are we as a “whole” community simply opposed to growth? Have we become so suppressed with our decision-making skills that we lack that of common sense? I fail to understand why so many people oppose any change or growth in our community. However, I fully understand that it’s those same people, yes some of you whose names have been in the paper, who complain that there is no growth or change in our towns. The most definite an... Full story

  • Many deserve recognition for horse rescue work

    Jamie Holeman|Sep 11, 2013

I have debated long and hard whether or not to write this letter, as many people have approached me and complained. After much consideration, I decided it’s best to hear it from the horse’s mouth, no pun intended. It has been brought to my attention several times that I was not mentioned in the articles about the horse rescue. Unfortunately, not all things can be covered in a couple of articles, besides that; behind the scenes work is awfully boring! I seem to be the only one not bothered by this, so I will follow with an explanation as to why... Full story
