Lake Roosevelt's softball team kept its late-season roll going this week, sweeping Almira-Coulee-Hartline and Inchelium to stretch its winning streak to nine games, counting two forfeits from Bridgeport.
The Lady Raiders opened the week April 30 with two wins over Almira-Coulee-Hartline, taking the first game 7-2 and the second 7-3.
In the opener, LR collected 11 hits. Juel Swager went 3 for 3 with two runs and a double, while Shae Crollard and Paisley Fury-Smith each had two hits. Crollard drove in a run, and Zaley Laramie also doubled.
The Lady Raiders followed with another 7-3 win, this time behind a strong pitching performance from Laramie and a big swing from Fury-Smith. Laramie threw six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, with no walks and eight strikeouts. Ashlyn Sam finished the game in the circle.
Fury-Smith went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Crollard went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, while Phenyx Marchand and Swager also added hits.
Lake Roosevelt then poured on the offense Monday, May 4, in a doubleheader sweep of Inchelium, winning 21-7 and 20-8.
In the first game, the Lady Raiders scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and finished with 15 hits. Fury-Smith went 5 for 5 with a double, triple, three runs and an RBI. Laramie added three hits, including two doubles, and drove in four. Crollard had two hits, including a triple, and drove in five. Sam and Katelyn Manuel each had two hits.
Laramie pitched all five innings, striking out 10.
LR kept the bats going in the second game, finishing with 16 hits in a 20-8 win. Cambry Brown went 3 for 5 with a double, triple, four runs and five RBIs. Fury-Smith drove in five more runs and added a double and triple. Marchand had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two, while Sam went 3 for 5.
Sam started in the circle, allowing no earned runs over three innings. Laramie threw the final four innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven.
The Lady Raiders' current streak has come at the right time, giving them momentum as the regular season winds toward postseason seeding.
