Lake Roosevelt golfers last week were busy at a tournament at Gamble Sands, near Brewster, on Wednesday, then hosting Oroville on the home course at Coyote Ridge on Banks Lake Thursday.
At the scenic Gamble Sands, nestled above orchards overlooking the confluence of the Okanogan and Columbia Rivers, Lake Roosevelt boys scored a 391 as a 2B team in a 1A-4A tournament, ahead of Quincy and Leavenworth. Gig Harbor won with a 299.
Senior Terek Bush shot an 85 for the Raiders, while eighth-grader Sylas Johnson came in at 94. Nikolas Seymour shot a 100, Champ Louie a 112, and Wyatt Egbert a 126.
At home, as workers were close to finishing up renovations on the clubhouse at the former Banks Lake Golf Club Thursday, the Raider team hosted Oroville. No scores were available.
Baseball turns around
Raider baseball scored three wins last week, culminating with a 26-14 win over the Cascade Kodiaks of Leavenworth in a non-league game there. The Raider also won the first game of that Saturday doubleheader, 9-1.
The Raiders also took down the Shockers at Waterville on Thursday, 15-5, in a game that ended LR's seven-loss streak.
They'll host Bridgeport in Coulee Dam for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 9 a.m., the welcome Okanogan at 4 p.m. next Tuesday.
Fastpitch softball dominates
The Lady Raiders walloped Cascade Saturday on the Kodiak diamond, 30-0 and 19-2, bringing Lake Roosevelt's record to 7-0 for the season so far, five of those games in league. WIAA lists them as seventh among the state's 47 teams in the 2B division.
They will host Inchelium at 4 p.m. Wednesday, then Bridgeport on Saturday for a doubleheader that starts at 9 a.m., and Okanogan next Tuesday at 4:30.
Track and Field
Lake Roosevelt athletes competed with 27 other teams at the Quincy Invite Saturday, ending the windy day in the middle of the meet at 15th.
Terrell Bush took the championship in the long jump with a huge leap of 20 feet, 9.25 inches, surpassing his sixth-place showing in Tonasket March 26 by over 4 feet.
The team heads to Kittitas Friday for the K-Valley Rally.
