Police

11/21 - Neither party wished to pursue charges following a fight at a Bridgeport Highway residence. A woman had reported being pushed by a man during an argument, and pushing back. She also reported her tail light being broken, but there wasn’t any evidence to connect the broken taillight to those present during the fight. 

11/22 - A Grand Avenue man reported a chainsaw and ax stolen from his property. A man in the Osborn Bay area had found a woodcutting job for him and wanted payment in return for finding the job. A disagreement over payment followed, and the Osborn Bay man took the ax for “collateral” and hid the chainsaw. Police gathered the ax from him, and found the chainsaw hidden in the Grand Avenues man’s shed. The Osborn Bay area man is being cited for the theft of the ax.

11/23 - Police responded to a 911 call that came from a Bay Area Drive residence. Everyone was fine inside the residence, and they all said that they hadn’t called 911. 

- Police went to Goodfellow Avenue, where a man had wandered into someone’s yard complaining of being cold and needing aid. The man was inside the residence, wrapped in a blanket and sitting on a couch. An ambulance crew checked the man for signs of frostbite and determined he was fine. Some other people arrived who gave the man a ride somewhere. 

- A Kelso Avenue man reported his Ford Explorer stolen by a woman whom he knows but who did not have permission to take the vehicle.

11/24 - A man reported hitting black ice near the Four Corners intersection at about 5:45 a.m., then hitting a Department of Transportation sign. Police went to where the sign was lying on the ground with tire marks leading up to it, consistent with the man’s story. The DOT was notified. The sign is deemed “uncritical,” simply telling motorists where food and lodging are up ahead. 

11/25 - Police checked on an SR-174 residence for a woman who reported that her security cameras were off. The residence was fine.

- Police provided traffic control at a situation on Midway Avenue. A driver had had a seizure while driving, and the passenger was able to navigate the vehicle safely to North Cascades Bank. The passenger was then given a courtesy ride by police.

11/27 - Police checked on a trailer on Burdin Boulevard that a neighbor was concerned could have been broken into. Police found the trailer to be fine and no tracks in the snow leading up to it.

11/28 - Police checked on Jackson Avenue puppies who were outside in a crate. The owner said the puppies are normally in the heated garage but had been outside while the garage was being cleaned.

11/24 - Police told an Okanogan County dispatch worker that there was nothing law enforcement could do to let people into their motel room that they had locked themselves out of and that they should call motel management. Police learned later that the people did regain entry to their room. 

11/25 - A Birch Street dog was reported as not being fed properly, and a photo showed that the dog’s rib cage was showing. Police contacted the tribal animal control department about the matter.

- Police elected not to respond to a report of a man and woman walking shoeless near Crest Drive as police had not received word of the situation until 10 minutes after it was reported, and there was no crime committed.
