Grand Coulee

Police

10/26 - A woman reported a man walking outside the senior center with his hands in his pants and exposing himself at one point. Police found the man nearby. He said he was confused about why police were talking to him, asking if someone had complained about him smoking cigarettes. The man was adamant that he didn’t have his hand in his pants. There wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with indecent exposure.

10/27 - A woman on Williams Avenue reported hearing a loud boom noise and seeing bright flashes. Police arrived and noted that the power was out several blocks in each direction. Police told the PUD about the situation that was said to be because of an issue with a breaker.

- Police spoke to a woman at the Grand Coulee Manor on Continental Heights. The woman refused to speak to the manager who asked why she was there. The woman did speak to police, explaining she was helping her aunt by watering her plants in the hallway. She led police to the aunt, who confirmed the story. The manager was told about the circumstances.

- Police responded to NuCoulee Boulevard, where tribal officers reside. A woman had knocked on their door in distress, saying shots had been fired. The person who answered the door didn’t let her inside. The woman then hid in their garage. She told police she heard gunshots but didn’t see a weapon or know who fired it. Police searched the area and spoke to someone who said she had lit off some firecrackers earlier. The woman who was in distress calmed down and walked home. No charges were filed.

10/28 - Police looked inside a half-open storage unit with no lock on it. The storage company was called and they said they would secure the unit.

10/30 - A man was cited for driving while intoxicated and for going 30 miles per hour over the speed limit, 75 mph in the 45 zone on SR-155. The man was cooperative throughout the process.

- Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Safeway with lights on and the engine running. A man was sleeping in the vehicle. Police left him alone after determining he wasn’t committing a crime.

10/31 - Two drivers both reported being run off the road by the other one on SR-155 where two southbound lanes become one lane. No charges were filed.

- A Hillcrest Avenue woman’s house was “egged,” and police took photos of the scene.

10/22 - A Fir Street woman was the victim of a gift card scam, having bought two $500 cards for a scammer. One of the cards had been taken care of by her credit card company, but the other one was purchased with a “bank card” and the issue wasn’t resolved yet. Police gave her a case number and said to have her bank call police if they need a copy of the report.

10/24 - Police responded to a report of a fire near 6th and Birch Street. The fire was in a fire pit, burning only firewood, and so everything was fine.

10/29 - Someone reported ballot box tampering at a box on Lincoln Avenue. Police responded and saw no evidence of tampering, with the tamper seals still intact.
