Tennis competes all throughout the land

The Lake Roosevelt tennis team is putting miles on their tennis shoes, most recently competing in Omak, Oroville, and Entiat.

LR competed in Omak April 11, Oroville April 13, and Entiat April 14.

“Tennis is going well,” Head Coach Billy Monroe said, noting that the three away matches “made for a lot of traveling.”

“Omak was a good team,” he said. “We got beat pretty handily in most of our matches. Teyten Flores and Zane Chaffee won at second and third singles for a little bright spot.

In Oroville, with eight Raider athletes, Monroe said that “Amy Dorman won a very competitive match at #1 girls singles.”

“Oroville had a tough #1 doubles team that beat us, but we won every other match,” he said.

The match in Entiat “ended up being a really good day for learning,” Monroe said.

Juggling who among his large roster plays in what match, the coach took his younger players to Entiat “to get some match experience.”

The freshmen doubles team of Gavin Senator and Wyatt Toulou, “played very well at #1 doubles, winning the match 6-4, 6-4.  Champ Louie, playing in his first varsity match, won at 3rd singles,” Monroe said.

Freshman Lucy Budravage picked up her first win of the season at #3 girls singles, while senior Terai Shanklin-Bob “dominated #1 singles.”

The team was scheduled to play in Pateros yesterday and to host Manson Friday, April 22, then Entiat on Monday, April 25, with both matches starting at 4 p.m.

The Raiders head to Okanogan on April 26 to compete with Okanogan starting at 4 p.m.
