A 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Grant County jail Thursday on a number of charges, including first-degree burglary and escaping from police.

In jail is Brandon Pachosa, who allegedly stole a number of items from a house at 44 Hillcrest Place in Electric City.

Pachosa, who gave police multiple addresses, including Young Street in Grand Coulee, Inchelium, and as an Electric City transient, had been sought by police on a felony warrant earlier this month but managed to avoid capture.

Officers received a tip that Pachosa had been seen entering a house at 123 West Grand Avenue in Electric City. He was later found inside, hiding on a shelf in a closet, and refused to come down until he was threatened with a taser.

In the police department office, fully handcuffed, Pachosa ran from officers until he was chased down at the former Fuller and Sons auto lot on Midway Avenue.

Police are asking prosecutors to charge Pachosa with first-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, third-degree escape, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

The police report stated that Pachosa had entered the house on Hillcrest Place, where the burglary took place, by removing a screen and prying open a window.

A number of things were misplaced when the homeowner returned home, and some items were piled up ready to be taken.

Among the items taken were two fully loaded .25 caliber pistols, an assortment of jewelry items, and coins totaling about $1,000.

When Pachosa climbed down from the shelf in the closet, he had in his possession a smoking pipe used to smoke methamphetamines. The pipe and other items have been sent to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.

Police stated that when they knocked on the door of the residence where Pachosa was found and arrested, a party asked, “Who is it?”

They were told to “wait a minute,” and they heard someone run to the back of the house.

A woman, who was not arrested, answered the door; when asked where Pachosa was, she motioned toward the back of the house. That’s when police found him in the closet.

Later, police searched outside the house and found a large duffel bag containing many of the missing items as well as some of Pachosa’s clothing.
