    Grand Coulee Dam area residents may dispose of household hazardous waste for free on Friday, September 8 from 12 pm to 4 pm 13at the Delano Regional Transfer Station. This event is for waste generated by households only. Containers will not be returned. Hazardous products have labels with words such as danger, caustic, flammable, and poison.     Grant County Health District staff are responding to a jump in whooping cough activity. Since June 2024, there have been 21 people with confirmed whooping cough and 7 other people with the disease symptoms and linkage to infected individuals. Most of those infected had not been vaccinated or were not up to date with the vaccine for whooping cough, also called pertussis.     The National Park Service for the next month is accepting public comments on its proposed fee increases throughout Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. One of the stipulations of charging user entrance and amenity fees, such as camping and boat launch fees, is that federal agencies are to charge fees commensurate with the local area, so as to not undercut the local markets, the NPS said in a press release.
