Names are now being accepted for the local “Trees of Sharing” campaign that spreads holiday cheer and presents to kids who may not get them otherwise. Names of children may be submitted on slips of paper and turned in at Safeway, Harvest Foods and Coulee Medical Center. It was somewhat comforting Tuesday morning watching Coulee Medical Center personnel practice skills they hope they never need. Comforting, that is, between ugly realizations and visions of what it means to contract the Ebola virus — or to deal with it as a healthcare worker. Grant County Transit officials have their fingers crossed that their plans for a transportation hub in the middle of downtown Moses Lake will become a reality and link far flung corners of the county to other transportation. Grand Coulee Police 10/6 - An officer in pursuit of a vehicle that failed to stop at an intersection reported that his patrol car struck a small animal, thought to be a cat. Later, after dealing with the stop sign violator he returned to the area and looked all over for the animal but couldn’t find it. The Coulee Area Park & Recreation District is moving forward on the planning of an “Aquatic Wellness and Fitness Center.” District President Bob Valen said Monday that the district will soon advertise for qualified firms to indicate an interest in developing conceptual drawings of what the center would look like. Mayor suffers stroke Coulee Dam Mayor Greg Wilder reportedly suffered a mild stroke Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning, several sources said. He was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center and is in good condition, relatives said, but he may require help to regain the ability to speak. Donna was born in Coulee Dam, Wash., on March 20, 1944 and raised by her parents Amos and Mary Shaw in Belvedere on the same property she was living at the time of her death.
