Electric City plans to distribute $40,000 of its hotel/motel tax funds to a handful of organizations in 2018, the council voted last Tuesday night. Upon recommendation of the city’s lodging tax committee, the council voted to fund its lodging tax applications with reserve lodging tax monies totaling $42,920, which includes $1,600 for advertising and $41,320 for the design and planning of two planned parks on McNett Avenue and Grand Avenue. Ambulance calls reported The Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire Department made 44 ambulance calls in August, Chief Rick Paris told city council members last Tuesday night. Thirteen of the calls were in Coulee Dam, and 25 calls were in Grand Coulee. EMTs made six transports of patients. Firemen also responded to five calls: one electric fire in Grand Coulee, two in Grant County Fire District 14, and two mutual aid calls. If you notice the grass turning to brown at North Dam Park, blame a faulty pump. The Bureau of Reclamation installed a submerged pump in Banks Lake several years ago just over North Dam, which abuts the park. That pump quit working last week, Wade Taylor told the Coulee Area Park and Recreation District Monday night.
