Banks Lake Golf Course is offering a special reduced price through its punch card program this season. Port District 7 officials, who manage the course, said last week that the new punch card program is designed to save golfers money and to encourage people to play the 18-hole course. The punch cards are good for both nine-hole and 18-hole play. Play six times for nine holes, and punch card users will get one free nine-hole play. Electric City will continue to fix up city hall this year. The city plans to paint city hall, add a stone wainscotting, put up a new logo sign and redo the air conditioning system. The Electric City council has moved forward on developing a parks and recreation plan for the city. The council authorized city planner Kurt Danison to move forward by voting up to $5,000 to develop the plan. Danison had noted that the development of the plan will include three public meetings to gather input from residents. Police have arrested a 26-year-old local man suspected of burglarizing his grandparent’s Electric City home. The school board and Paul Turner agreed on a three-year contract Monday night and the Grand Coulee Dam School District has a new superintendent of schools. Eighteen students from Coulee Dam schools will be going to Northern Quest Resort in Airway Heights to continue studies of the Salish language. Lake Roosevelt High School is in a new Central Washington 2B league. The new league, made up of many of LR’s competitors, will operate under WIAA sanctions for the next four years, and begin this fall. Those who were disappointed in the Laser Light Show last season because the Bureau of Reclamation couldn't spill water as a backdrop for the lasers will be happy to hear that things will be fixed in time for the show this spring. When he arrived at work about noon last Friday, the new owner of Riverview Lanes interrupted someone who had broken into the bowling alley. Scott Elmore told police that when he entered the bowling alley he saw light coming from the bowling machine area and when he started to investigate he saw the shadow of a person making a run for the door.
