Raiders win football homecoming 68-14

If a team is going to win any game decisively, doing it at homecoming is a nice plus.

The Mustangs got whipped Friday night in Coulee Dam as Lake Roosevelt's Raiders dominated the game from the start, scoring on Bridgeport 52 seconds in with an 80-yard run by Terrell Bush.

By the end of the first quarter, LR led 40-6. They held Bridgeport scoreless in the next two quarters while gaining 20 Raider points. Each team added 8 in Q4.

LR Quarterback Joe "Hoss" Lauseng completed 13 of 24 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns.

SJ Gorr caught four of those passes for 101 yards and a TD.

Bush ran in three touchdowns among his four carries for 180 yards.

And Jayden Zaug was the Mustang's nemesis, making 12 tackles, forcing a fumble and recovering three.

Zaug, Bush and Lauseng will stand as three of a dozen seniors to be honored on senior night this Friday when Lake Roosevelt pits their now 4-3 overall record against the Mabton Vikings' 4-0 that includes a 6-point win against Chewelah. LR beat that team by 60 points Oct. 9.

Friday's game will mark the Raiders' last home game of the season, with Soap Lake hosting them next week, then White Swan the following Friday, Nov. 6, for a non-league, 11-man contest. The Raiders have been playing 8-man ball all season.

Soccer

LR heads to postseason

The Raider soccer team squeezed out their 10th win of the season Saturday, 3-2 in a non-league win over 1A Omak after having fought 1A Chelan to a tie two days earlier at Chelan Falls Field, 1-1.

That makes Lake Roosevelt's win-loss record 10-4-1 and seeds them into the 2026 CWB Girls Soccer Tournament at third to take on the number-six Oroville Hornets in game one in Grand Coulee at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 in a loser-out contest.

Winning that would send them into two more games in the tournament Oct. 27 and 31 for seeding into the District 5 tourney Nov. 4 and 7.

"We'd love your support!" Head Coach Solveig Chaffee wrote on Facebook.

Volleyball

After beating Bridgeport last Tuesday 3-0, the Lady Raiders lost in three sets at Tonasket Thursday Oct. 15, then again at home last night to Liberty Bell in another three-set loss.

They are set to host ACH Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. for a non-league match to end the regular season. They are 1-5 in league, 2-10 overall.
