OPEN PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE, REQUEST

FOR OBSERVERS for 2025 February Special Election

The Canvassing Board of Okanogan County, pursuant to chapter 29A.60 RCW, will hold public meetings on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM to determine the status of any provisional or challenged ballots, and on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM, to canvass the votes cast and certify the election, at the Okanogan County Auditor’s Office. These meetings of the canvassing board are open, public meetings, and shall be continued until the activity for which the meetings are held has been completed.

Note: Checking of Signatures will begin on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 9:00AM

Initial Processing (opening and scanning) of ballots will begin on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 9:00AM

Vote totals will be tallied the day of the election and at least once after the election.

The law allows ballots to be opened, checked, scanned, and resolved in the voting system from the date of receipt.

On Election Day, the processed totals will be entered into the Tabulation system (Final Processing). No totals will be released until after 8:00 PM on Election Day (Tabulation). Final Processing and Tabulation times will be provided to the Official Party Observers.

Official Party and Community Observers should be present during these processes. However, if Official Party Observers or Community Observers should not be appointed, the processing of ballots will continue.

We will need no more than 3 official observers one from each party, and 1 Community Observer. Please notify us in writing at elections@co.okanogan.wa.us the day prior, please include a phone number in case we need to contact you.

Mandatory Audits

Two audits are required by law.

Duplicated ballots – to be completed before certification

Random – hand count of 3 precincts, one office/race no later than 48 hours after Election Day.

The audit schedule is as follows. Audits will take place in the Okanogan County Auditor’s office. Party observers are welcome.

Random - Thursday – February 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM

Duplicated ballots - Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM

You can submit the precincts and office/race that you would like to see audited by 10:00 AM the day of the Audit. Both parties must agree on the precincts and office/race or the Auditor’s office will make the final determination. The office/race selected must appear in all three precincts. Precincts selected must have enough ballots to preserve voter secrecy.

The Town of Coulee Dam will receive sealed bids for Coulee Dam Tree Trimming Services. Bid Package and Specifications may be obtained by contacting Town Hall at (509) 633-0320 or emailing cdclerk@couleedam.org. Sealed Bids should be mailed to the Town of Coulee Dam, 300 Lincoln Ave, Coulee Dam, WA 99116, or hand delivered to the Clerk’s Office, by 10:00am on February 12, 2025. The Town of Coulee Dam reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

The Town of Coulee Dam will receive sealed bids for one new One Ton Pick-Up Truck. Bid Package and Specifications may be obtained by contacting Town Hall at (509) 633-0320. Sealed Bids should be mailed to the Town of Coulee Dam, 300 Lincoln Ave, Coulee Dam, WA 99116, or hand delivered to the Clerk’s Office by 12:00pm (noon) on February 7. The Town of Coulee Dam reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
