Gordon Lee Larson

Gordon Lee Larson, 88, peacefully left this world for his heavenly home on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from McKay Healthcare in Soap Lake, Washington.

Born in Mandan, North Dakota, on August 30, 1935, to John and Emma Larson, the family moved to the Grand Coulee area when Gordy was young where his dad worked on the building of the Grand Coulee Dam. After Gordy graduated high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he spent time serving in Germany. Upon his return, he worked as a police officer for the Grand Coulee Police Department. One of his favorite stories was when he managed to lock himself in the jail cell and had to wait for another officer to come in and release him.

On September 27, 1958, Gordy married Kathleen McNeilly, and they spent nearly 60 years together before her passing in 2017. After they married, they moved to Edmonds, Washington, and raised their 3 children. Gordy worked in the construction industry until his retirement. Upon his retirement, they decided Grand Coulee was still home, and they moved back to the area where Kathleen babysat many local children, and Gordy loved all of them.

One of his main joys was spending time at the Grand Coulee Senior Center. He loved his time there with Felix, Diane and his many other friends. He was always on the lookout for someone who needed something, and he found great joy in giving to others. Shortly before his passing, the wonderful staff at McKay celebrated "Gordon Day" when they brought him to the Senior Center to visit all his friends. They greeted him with his beloved maple bars and lots of hugs, and it was a very special day for him.

Gordy spent his final 3 years at McKay Healthcare in Soap Lake. He loved living there, and the staff treated him like a king. He discovered a love for crafts, gardening, and especially bingo! We will forever be grateful for how lovingly they all cared for him. He also loved the fellow residents, and he found great joy with helping others at McKay. He would roll into the dining room and announce, "Gordy's here!"

Gordy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and giving. If you wish to honor his memory, please consider donating to the Grand Coulee Senior Center or McKay Healthcare in Soap Lake. Both places brought him tremendous joy in his life.

Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Larson; daughter, Sherri Larson; parents, John and Emma Larson; siblings, Norman, Sally and Gary and many other beloved family members.

Gordon is survived by son, Randy Larson of Coulee Dam; daughter, Lisa Faul (Keith) of Electric City; and grandsons Connor Murray, Blake Larson, Brandon Larson, Ryan Larson, and Nicholas Larson and many other family members he loved dearly.

At his request, no funeral service will be held, and a graveside service will be scheduled for a later date.
