(4/26/23 - Nespelem, WA) April is National Volunteer month. We did not want one more moment to pass without sharing how much we appreciate our 4-H volunteers. A big bouquet of clovers goes out to: Albert Seymour, Barbara Herman, Daniel Brudevold, Dolly Brudevold, Ian Wilder, Jeanne Jerred, Karen Neal, Marilee Seymour, Nicomi Swan, Robert Jackson, Storey Jackson and Suzanne Katich. These twelve 4-H volunteers have a combined 170 years of volunteers' experience to the 4-H program.

In 2022, these folks donated 210 volunteer hours to our Colville Reservation WSU Extension 4-H program. The Independent Sector values one Washington state volunteer hour at $34.87, at this rate, our volunteers contributed the equivalent of $7,322.70 of their time to 4-H! We couldn't be more grateful.

4-H is more than just fun; 4-H helps youth to gain life skills that foster their growth as caring and contributing citizens. These 4-H Volunteers graciously share their expertise and inspire youth to explore and experience all that 4-H has to offer. 4-H volunteers lead a variety of 4-H projects including photography, cooking, woodworking, food preservation, small animals, horse projects, market animals, baking, crafts, sewing, etc. The 4-H volunteers provide youth with opportunities to enhance their own futures when they share their time and talents. In turn, this contributes to the development of resilient youth and healthy communities.

Ian Wilder – 36 years volunteering.

The dedication and devotion of these 4-H volunteers to the Colville Reservation youth is unrivaled. Words cannot express how thankful we are for their commitment to service through the Colville Reservation WSU Extension 4-H Positive Youth Development Program as it demonstrates their unwavering confidence in the future of our youth.

We are so proud of these 4-H volunteers as they are truly making a difference in young people's lives.

If you would like to volunteer your time and talents to help develop our future leaders, or if you would like more information on 4-H or other Extension programs, please contact Linda McLean, Colville Reservation WSU Extension Director, (509) 634-2305 or ljmclean@wsu.edu . Extension programs and employment are available to all without discrimination. Evidence of noncompliance may be reported through your local Extension office.
