Masquers Theatre will present “Sing On” beginning April 14. It is written by Rick Abbot and is a sequel to “Play On” (performed at Masquers in 2014). It’s a comedy about a musical. “Sing On” once again brings us our crazy playwright, Phyllis Montague, who wishes to become a “Bess Booster”.

According to Phyllis, the Bess Boosters are folks around the world who feel Queen Elizabeth I was completely misunderstood by historians. Phyllis and her nephew have written a musical as their entry to become Bess Boosters. She entices her theater group to perform the musical with a $10,000 endowment from the Boosters organization. The crew knows Phyllis is nuts remembering her last project “Play On”. But the endowment is too good to pass up. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?

The cast is an incredibly fantastic mix of seasoned veterans and soon-to-be veterans. They are, in order of appearance: Carrie Rutherford as Polly Benish, Victoria Drake as Gerry Dunbar, Darryl Pheasant as Henry Benish. They are joined by Jeremy Hansen as Saul Watson, Stacey Bresee as Marla “Smitty” Smith, Sherry Joski as Aggie Manville and Randy Brown Martin as Louise Peary. Of course, there could be no musical without Joanne Bracht as Phyllis Montague and Jesse Huntwork as her nephew Monte Montague; And finishing out the troupe we have Jason Noble as Bill Carewe and Rainy Nichols as Violet Carewe.

The director for “Sing On” is Carol Boyce. This is her fourth venture in directing. Her debut was co-directing with Peggy Dubey “One Flew Over the Coo-Coo’s Nest”, then directed “Play On” (introducing the intrepid characters of “Sing On”) and “Cemetery Club”. She is most ably assisted by Carrie Rutherford who directed “The 39 Steps”.

Please join Carol and Carrie for more than a few laughs and see what it takes to wrangle a $10,000 endowment. Tickets can be purchased on line at masquers.com. or at the door at Masquers Theatre in Soap Lake. Show dates are April 14-30, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. See you there!
