Wrestlers to head to regional tournament

The Lake Roosevelt Raider wrestling team on Saturday qualified 11 athletes for the regional tournament next weekend, including two District 6 champions.

Zach Elwell took first place at the 106-pound weight division over teammate and 2022 state champion Rodger Cate.

Teyton Flores attacks Tonasket's Logan Stucker at 145 before pinning him for the championship in District 6.

Teyten Flores, at 145, claimed that championship with a pin of Tonasket's Logan Stucker at the event, which was held at Lake Roosevelt High School.

Dillan Yazzie took second place at 113, as did Dakota Green at 138, Landon Krohn at 152, and Junior Garcia at 182.

Julian Lopez took third place at 132, as did Christian Carson at 145 and John Desautel at 170.

At 285, Caleb Wallace took fourth.

The Raiders as a team finished third in District 6 with 153 points, behind Okanogan's 172 and Tonasket's 242.5.

Liberty Bell came in fourth with 69.5, Manson fifth with 42, and Oroville sixth with 33.


On Saturday, the boys will travel to Cowiche's Highland Junior/Senior High School, 17000 Summitview Road, for the Region 2 tournament to determine who goes on to the state Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome Feb. 17-18.
