The Lake Roosevelt Raiders currently top their league, facing two top competitors and five other schools in the Central Washington 2B League.

After their Friday night home-court win against the Oroville Hornets, the Raiders' win-loss record in the league stands at 5-0, and overall at 13-2. The Hornets lost 88-37 Friday, putting them at the other end of the league list at 0-5.

The Raiders fed the Tigers (1-4) a similar meal in Tonasket Jan. 10, winning 84-44.

"We're getting better every single game," Coach Jeremy Crollard said after the win against Oroville. "We played really well at Tonasket the other night. If we win our home games from here on out and take care of what we need to do here, we'll be one of the top two seeds ... going into our league tournament."

In the meantime, Chase Marchand led the Raiders in points Friday, scoring 20 against the Hornets in the first three quarters as LR racked up 74 points. Bear Vargas-Thomas added 15, and Tanner Kiser put in 12, including a couple of the Raiders' six three-pointers in the game.

Jordy Gomez led Oroville with 18.

"I felt like we played a good game," Crollard said. "We played hard defense, we rebounded well, those little things that they can control every single day."

And, importantly, he noted, the team's "bench players" go more floor time. "They got a bunch of time and they're getting more confidence, which is a huge thing."

LR's toughest competition in the league comes from Brewster (5-0) and Liberty Bell (4-1) as of Tuesday morning, when the Raiders sat at sixth in the state in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association RPI ranking of 2B teams, which considers "Strength of Schedule" as a factor.

The Davenport Gorillas (14-1 overall) led the list on Tuesday, followed by Brewster (11-3), Burbank (13-1), Morton (12-2), and Adna (13-3).

Those win-loss ratios have changed by now. The Raiders were set to meet Brewster in Coulee Dam Tuesday night after deadline. But the Raiders are in the running for the top two, at least.
