Grand Coulee Police

4/18 - Police spoke to a girl near Cole Street who was described as “whacked out on drugs” in the roadway. The woman displayed signs of methamphetamine use, but declined any aid from police.

4/19 - Police spoke to a man who was sleeping in a baseball dugout at the former middle school with beer bottles around him. The man said he normally camped near the lake but took cover due to rain. He cleaned up his mess before leaving.

- A woman complained that while speaking at a city council meeting, a man in attendance called her a “wackadoodle.” Police determined that no crime was committed.

- A building owner reported damage to two windows, estimated at $1,000, caused at his Burdin Boulevard building. The damage appeared to be from a BB or pellet gun.

4/20 - Five kids playing with an airsoft gun were told not to go on private property after someone reported people trespassing on Banks Avenue. The kids were on top of a shed when police found them.

4/21 - A man reported that, after visiting a friend on Kelso Avenue, he discovered his vehicle had been prowled and that his wallet, a $600 bass guitar and case, and a $300 keyboard were all missing.

- Police found a man and woman making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches inside of a shed that didn’t belong to them. They said they were cold and hungry. They left without incident. The owner of the shed didn’t seem interested in pressing charges.

4/23 - Police spoke to two men regarding a man on Wetzel Street trapping the other’s stray cats in a cage on his property and releasing them elsewhere. The police report notes that it is not illegal to do so on private property. The cat owner said his cats have roamed the neighborhood for years without incident. He was told to try to keep his cats on his own property.

4/25 - Police responded to a report of a loose dog. A dog owner explained that a barking deterrent device upset the golden retriever, and it escaped its Kelso Avenue home. Police told her that a barking dog can be a good theft deterrent.

- An intoxicated high school student was reported as being loud at the hospital. Police stood by until her mother arrived. 

Coulee Dam Police

4/18 - A River Drive apartment owner reported learning while doing inventory that several hardware-type items were missing from a shed. He contacted the former manager who said the shed had been broken into, to which the owner noted that he hadn’t been told about that and it hadn’t been reported to police. Police contacted the former manager, and a lawyer contacted them back.

- A Grand Coulee officer told a Coulee Dam officer about a girl who said she had been raped by a boy on at a Fir Street residence over a year earlier. The officer determined to contact New Hope out of Grant County, whose personnel are highly trained in talking to juveniles about sexual misconduct. 

4/19 - A Fir Street boy reported that when he looked at another boy’s Instagram Live video, the other boy pointed a gun at the camera and threatened him. His girlfriend said she saw the livestream as well. He took a screenshot of the boy holding a gun, although that boy’s face is covered by a mask. Police spoke to the boy’s stepfather, who said there aren’t any guns in the house. Police requested he bring the boy to police to get his side of the story, but hadn’t heard back.

- A racquetball racket was found by police on Lincoln Avenue and taken back to the police station as found property.

4/23 - Police spoke to a woman who was having some kind of mental health crisis after she reportedly threatened to kill people in the parking lot of Harvest Foods. The people didn’t feel intimidated by her threat, explaining that, being from Spokane, they experience that sort of thing all the time.
