Wrestlers place at Quincy's 'Mat Animal'

Six Raider wrestlers placed at the Quincy Mat Animal Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 22. 

Raiders earned two first-place spots, a second, a third, and two sixth-place spots. 

Wrestling in the 113-pound weight class, Roger Cate placed third by pinning Tim Pomeroy from Blaine just 37 seconds into the match.

At 126, Colton Jackson took first with a pin of Blaine’s Cael Button 59 seconds into the match.

Teyton Flores placed sixth at 145 after getting pinned by Eric Myrick from Royal 36 seconds into the third round.

Landon Krohn took second at 170, losing the first-place spot to Judah Yates of Selah, who won by technical fall, 16-0. 

And at 285, Joseph Tynan placed sixth after sustaining an injury in a previous round.

For the girls, wrestling at 170, Arianna Waters took first with a pin of Manson’s Frayle Nancy two matches in a row.

The wrestlers were scheduled to compete with Okanogan in a dual match in Okanogan last night, results of which will be reported next week.


Moving into the postseason, the district tournament is scheduled for Feb. 5 in Tonasket with more info to be reported in the Feb. 2 Star.
